i <br /> i <br /> Mashpee ee Finance Committee Minutes <br /> February 13,2007 <br /> Mashpee ee To + n Hull,Room##1 <br /> Meeting called to order: Chairman Chris Avis called meeting of the Finance <br /> Committee to order at 6:36 p.m. at the Mashpee Ton Hall. <br /> Present: Chris Avis, Chairman; Chuck Gasior,vice Chairman; Iden Patrick; Bob <br /> Hutchinson; Sandra Lindsey, and Bill Johnson. <br /> Absent: Lynda Carroll <br /> Others: Joyce Mason,Town Manager; Rene Dead,Assistant Town Manager; Terrie <br /> Cook, Selectman; Don Myers, Selectman; Sheldon Gilbert, Planning& Construction; <br /> Mary Rose Grady, Chairperson School Committee; Rebecca Romkey, School Committee <br /> Secretary; Brian Kerhl, Mashpee Enterprise. <br /> I. AQvroval of Minutes: Chris Avis moved to approve Minutes of Meeting of <br /> January 9,2007. Ken Patrick approved. Sandra Lindsey seconded. All were in <br /> favor. <br /> 11. Correspondence: <br /> Petitioner's Article for Mashpee Town Meeting February 12, `off Free Cash <br /> Petitioner's Article for Mashpee Town Meeting February 12, 'o -Stabilization Fund <br /> FY 2008 Debt Payments <br /> Drafted letters regarding the School fepartent budget <br /> Chris Avis began by giving those(the Public)in attendance the opportunity to address the <br /> Finance Committee. No one elected to speak at that time, and there was no discussion. <br /> Liaison Updates re: Budget Issues: Chris Avis asked if all members of the Board had <br /> an opportunity to review the recommended Budget. Ken Patrick questioned regarding <br /> what he felt was a discrepancy of a couple of million dollars. Ken commented that real <br /> estate prices decreased %percent in the past twelve 1 months, and asked if Joyce <br /> Mason could provide an analysis to the Committee tonight, or by the next Meeting. <br /> Joyce Mason stated she Nought she had explained this,but would be happy to do so. <br /> Joyce noted that the FY 2006 levy limit inside Proposition 2 1 was Twenty Eight <br /> Million, Eight Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighteen Dollars <br /> ($28,837,318-00)and 00/100. Ken commented questioned Joyce on some additional <br /> figures, and Joyce indicated she felt Ken's stated figures were inaccurate, and strongly <br /> preferred that Iden have a copy of the analysis prior to any further discussion. It was <br /> agreed by both Iden and Joyce that father discussion would wait until she had provided <br /> Iden with this analysis and explanation in writing. <br /> Joyce Mason addressed the Board by stating there would be a need to make an immediate <br /> adjustrnent budget recommendation because that the Town had received two 2 budget <br /> 1 <br />
