1 <br /> Fire Station Building Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> June 227 1999 <br /> REPORT OF THE ARCHITE <br /> James May presented preliminary design schematics of the project <br /> proponent to the Committee for initial review and discussion. <br /> The basement plan as depleted is proposed unfinished containing a <br /> concrete floor, utilities, an elevator and two means of egress. Mr. May <br /> suggested the Committee consider incorporating underground plumbing <br /> and an additional zone off the furnace to heat the basement for future <br /> usage. <br /> Modifications to ffie design of the first floor were discussed, The <br /> Architect was directed to reconfigure the stairway as outlined in the initial <br /> schematic to allow for controlled entry into the basement area. <br /> The issue of existing foundation walls and related reinforcement of such <br /> was discussed. The Architect was directed to review this utter with the <br /> Structural Engineer,Ammann and Whitney. <br /> Mr. May indicated that a high quality forced hot water runtel system is <br /> proposed for the heating of the building. The unit is flat in appearance and <br /> does not protrude as a typical baseboard. A separatei rmo t t will be <br /> installed in each sleeping quarter to adjust the heating and cooling <br /> temperatures of the individual rooms. <br /> The Architect was directed to review the potential for use of domestic <br /> warm water in the apparatus space for the washing equipment. In <br /> addition,Mr. May was directed to align the.upstairs plumbing as the first <br /> floor to accommodate the unisex restroom on the second floor. A separate <br /> male and female facility will be contained on the first floor of the subject <br /> plan as outlined. <br /> Ventilation and cooling is presented as a ducted system to obtain constant <br /> fresh air supply in each room. A thermostat will be used to separate the <br /> comfort levels in each quarter. Mr. May suggested the condenser unit be <br /> placed outdoors for easy maintenance purposes. <br />
