2
Fire Station Building Committee
Minutes
Wednesday, September 22, 1999
REPORT OF THE ARCHITECT:
James May presented a revised Design Development cost estimate
to the Committee for review reflected as Revision 3 dated
September 17, 1999.
Design Development cost estimates reflect a total construction cost of
$1,9687009. The conceptual design estimate conforms to the Scheme of
2B; new crew quarters and adnx1ffl* tr tive space south of the existing
apparatus bags and new apparatus bay. The total project cost of Scheme
is$2,403,530.
As a result of budgetary constraints, the size of the building was reduced.
The renovation of the Fire and Rescue Station is a budget driven project.
The Committee agreed that additional space would have been more
desirable. The building s designed is functional, and will not comprise
the program needs of the department. It is designed to meet the
requirements of the department realizing that a sub-station is a future
necessity. Any difficulties that arise within the renovated nation should
be addressed in the construction of the satellite station.
Mr. 1 May indicated that he is comfortable to move forward to complete the
.Construction Documents Phase of the intended project scope. As a result
of increased Design Development changes more typically than expected,
the schedule is behind by approximately one month.
Motion made by Mr. Thomas to approve the Design Development
lopment
Phase of the Mashpee Fire and Rescue Station renovation project.
Motion seconded by Mr.Baker.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4- .
Chairman Mason will remit a memorandum to Wallace,Floyd, Associates
Inc. of the Committee's action to approve the Design Development phase
of the project scope. Upon approval of the Construction Documents
Phase, the Bidding Phase is anticipated to be completed before
December 15 1999.
The Architect was directed to develop an updated project schedule through
completion for the next scheduled meeting. Ten months has been
allocated for construction.
