4"-ai6 t.le -Vii <br /> � F <br /> M.ashpee Pu'bfic Library <br /> GREAT NECK ROAD y <br /> MA HPEE, MASS. 02649 <br /> Board of Library Trustees <br /> Minutes of the Mee uing <br /> April 9, 1979 <br /> Present: Eleanor-Jean Cohen, Ond.rea Robertson, Avis Me-.role ., Arnold Swenson, Susan <br /> Van Tod., Gloria Selandery librarian, and Joan Muse, Town Accountant. <br /> Absent: Esther Smith, Alice Hicks <br /> nutes of the previous meeting, March 12, were accepted as read. <br /> A letter was received from the Friends of the library thanking us for our assistance <br /> and encouragement in their recent Salute to Spring. <br /> Librarian'sReport*: Circulation for lilarch was 527 volumes. The new furniture and <br /> reading magnifier ale now in use. Town Hall can accomodate 75 children for the <br /> puppet show in May. The price f the puppet show i $60. The show fu be <br /> performed by the -14insy Puppets of Harwich on May 12. EJC mentioned there is a group <br /> of puppeteers a the Mass. Marit e Academy who might come here later in the sinner. <br /> April 18 is the date of the next Eastern Sub-Regional meeting, this time in <br /> Falmouth to dedicate the new wing. The urogram starts at �:30 a.m. and trustees <br /> and staff are invited. The Friends of the Library will, use the building April 1 <br /> for their annual meeting. Mr. Calls is to continue the arts and crafts program, <br /> starting on April 21. There Vill be two classes on Saturday mornings for 6 weeks. <br /> The book drop has arrived from the Friends. Where shall we place it <br /> r private contractor who visited the library recently mentioned that the "hill <br /> in the middle of the floor is not a good sign. We should have it checked before adding i-Q <br /> more weight. The ceiling near the chimney is leaking again. Mrs. Sel nder has <br /> sunt for applications for a grant to implement a program to aid the visually <br /> handicapped and deaf. The grant would be $x.000 to $2000. The Mass. Library <br /> Association annpal conference is May 14 and 15. Deadline for registration is April 20. <br /> EJC and OR to attend, along with the librarian. <br /> Joan Muse, Town Accountant, reported that the funs in the Library Account ($675.72 <br /> minus interest) can be used, in a broad sense, for construction purposes. The <br /> State grant money .,($936) needs no further article in Town Meeting to -be spent. <br /> The Revolving Fund 0623.90) can be used for any Dose. The Dog Tag money is <br /> behind last year by about $1000j, but there is stili money to be returned u <br /> from the Oou gty. All Dog Tag sales money will be used to defray the Library Budget. <br /> Susan van Tol announced that there are stip funds available for road and parking.It <br /> patching. Mrs. Selander was asked to send a memo.to the Highway Department requesting <br /> that the Library parking lot be patched. <br /> Update on Budget Request for FY 80: Librarian Is salary. approved by. the FinCom for <br /> only 5 percent increase. Mrs. Cohen and Mrs. Robertson attended another FinGom <br /> meeting and appealed the decision and were successful in getting the members t <br /> approve the full increase we had requested. <br /> The Friends have asked tis for some guidelines for the long--term development of <br /> the Library. Speci.ficaly plans for future- groom so they can choose appropriate <br /> gifts; advance notice of any local and state conferences; and permission t <br /> solicit items for display. <br /> The May meeting has been postponed to May 2.l.
