Mashpee Public Library
GREAT NECK ROAD
MASHPEE, MASS. 02648
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 1979
During the month of September 635 materials were circulated.
Adult books totaled 396, Juvenile 107, paperbacks 84, periodicals
48. Of these materials 48 were from Interloan.
Application has been made for FY • 80 state aid. On September
28th a regional meeting was held at the Falmouth Library to hear
testimony pro; and con on proposed changes for state aid and library
personnel standards. While towns the size of Mashpee could
benefit from some recommendations, some of the larger libraries
would have to curtail some services and acquisitions.
On Friday, October 5th, a regional meeting will be held at the
Yarmouthport Depository to discuss service to the homebound, and
materials available to the blind and handicapped.
The air conditioner has been installed and is working. The
dehumidifiers were sent to the police department in error. Another
order has been placed with Sears for two units.
• Batteries for our emergency power have been changed, and shutters
on windows facing the parking lot will be replaced. The present
ones are deteriorating.
Downstairs is now ready for use. Shelving is needed for books,
and a room plan should be devised for best utilization of available
space.
I have asked the Town Accountant for a financial statement of
several of the library accounts. When the bills are paid for the
air conditioner installation and the dehumidifiers the former
revolving account and a good portion of the money Prom the Library
Fund will have been expended. The state aid money has not been
touched.
Gloria Selander
Librarian
1
•
