BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> MAY 14, 1996 , <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> , Letter on State Strategic Plan: M. Marsh explained that during the last <br /> meeting, they had discussed writing letters relative to the State Strategic <br /> Plan. <br /> Mimi explained that on May 1, 1996, she posted letters to the following: <br /> 1. Senator Rosenberg who is the chairman of the Senate Ways and Means. <br /> . Senator Birmingham, President of the Senate. <br /> . A somewhat different letter to Henri lauschenbaeh <br /> 4. Copies were sent to the various people involved. <br /> Mimi read the letters to the meeting. <br /> Helene stated that, as far as she knew, the budget was still in committee <br /> and has not been. released. Helene explained that since she was President of <br /> CLAMS, she would have received early notification if the budget were out. <br /> VI NEW BUSINESS: <br /> A. Town Meeting reviewed: Helene reported that we had both Selectmen <br /> and Fin Com support. <br /> B. Repair of carpeting in oh l~ ren' section: Helene reported that Sandy's <br /> husband, who has a carpeting business dial the repair. It was a good <br /> three-hour job. Helene felt that he did a beautiful job, and we now <br /> have a new-looking carpet in the children's section. Initially, he had <br /> estimated between $100 and $150 to complete the work. He only charged <br /> $loo. Helene felt that they had a bargain. <br /> a <br /> 4 <br /> C. Helene explained that the audio-visual shelves had been installed. She <br /> k estimated of the people coming in thought it was wonderful. They <br /> had been used to the way it was, and were having a little trouble ad- <br /> justing. Helene felt that more people were now able to browse. The <br /> lower shelves were right at the children's level; Che adult can stand <br /> behind them, and still see what is at the ,top. <br /> Helene explained that she has changed the loan period on the subjects <br /> of gardening, sports, exercise, etc. We have made them a one-week <br /> loan and posted a notice there. Helene suggested that when patrons <br /> became used to the new system, they would like it. <br /> D, Plants had been donated to the library by the Beautification Council. <br /> Salvia, Impatience. Anton and Mrs.. Buschenf eldt planned to do the <br /> planting.
