M. <br /> I PRESENT:T: 14 ENE DEF E, LIBRARY <br /> DIRECTOR <br /> ANTON BUS IHENPFLDT <br /> CARO D'ESTE <br /> CHARLOTTE PAIEDIL <br /> MINI MARSH <br /> JADE STOCIRIDE { <br /> II MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING. <br /> Minutes of the June 18, 1997 meeting were accepted as printed. <br /> III REPORTS: <br /> A. The Library Directorts report is attached hereto. <br /> The Young Adults circulation was 95 for the month of June 1997. The <br /> library is still in the process of separating the Young Adult materials <br /> from the Juvenile. Looking back at the records of past months, there <br /> were abo ut -25 items per month. Last month there were 50 items. This <br /> past month was 95 items. It appears that Junior High and High School <br /> students were finding that section and making use of it. <br /> Helene reported re. the stimmer program, with the kick-off performance at <br /> the college. This was a joint program o about 2.0 libraries. They had <br /> applied f.or some grant fundsYt. hire .a nationally known story-teller. <br /> Each library sold tickets to make up for the amounts to cover the balance <br /> due. There were full houses at both shows. what Helene particularly liked <br /> about the story-teller, he constantly wade reference to the library in his <br /> stories., <br /> We had a story-teller at the Mashpee Library the following week, Davis Bates. <br /> 1t was held on the. lawn of the library. About seventy people attended. <br /> Last week the first of the drop-in craft programs was started. Twenty-fire <br /> children participated. Today was the side- alb chalk acct program; sixteen. <br /> children participated in this. 84 children registered, to read at least five <br /> books this summer. <br /> Helene reported that later the meeting would discuss her evaluation. one of <br /> the goals was to increase the programs for children. <br /> B. Friends of the Library: Jaye Stockbridge is the new President of. the <br /> Friends of the Library.. The library trustees are delighted to have Jane <br /> with them. <br /> Jane reported that there had been at book sale last Saturday, "$2.00 <br /> bag". The sale bad earned $76.00. <br /> Jame reported that she had visited the library last week and had been <br /> able to dispose of many of the books. There aro places they can be <br /> sent, such as nursing homes. Some of the books are not in good enough <br /> condition to recycle, so they sometimes have to be disposed of. <br /> Jane ho ed to have her annual letter to the Friends sent out by next <br /> week.. <br />
