M. <br /> I PRESENT: HELENE DEFE, LIBRARY DIRECTOR <br /> DAVID BURTON <br /> CARLO W ESTE <br /> CHARLOTTE FIL <br /> MIMI MARSH <br /> GLORIA SELANDER <br /> .SANE STIBRIDGE <br /> 11 REPORTS: <br /> A. Library Director's Report is attached hereto. <br /> Helene DeFoe reported that the month of July had been a very busy <br /> month. <br /> B. Friends of the Library: Jame Stockbridge reported that her annual <br /> letter to the Friends had gone out with the assistance of Lisa Talmage, <br /> who is a fantastic computer person. There had been 86 membership re- <br /> newals; three of whom had made $100.00 donations. The ffirst�meeting of <br /> the Friends had been on duly 22, 1997. Kathleen San Clemente was the <br /> speaker. The book sale proceeds totalled $165.00; The Executive Board <br /> net on July 24, 1997. The next meeting will be held Thursday, September <br /> 253 1997 t 7:00 p. m. John Costa will be the guest speaker, the subjec.t, <br /> Swords for Satellites* <br /> III MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: <br /> The minutes of the meeting of. July ,15, 1997 were accepted as printed. <br /> Iv I+ UNI ATI NS_: <br /> Nona. <br /> V OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Shelving: Helene reported that Anton had the three quotes which were <br /> required by the town. 'Helene explained that the price that was thelowest <br /> quote of the three, was about one--half of the other two prices. It would <br /> meed to be determined whether this represented the use of the sane materials, <br /> quality,. etc. as the other two estimates. <br /> V1 NEW BUSINESSID <br /> Mimi Marsh suggested that she felt that the library trustees should start <br /> to communicate to the townspeople the idea of the future expansion of the <br /> library, to those in poorer. They should begin to lock into grants. <br /> Helene explained that the town had recently employed a grant writer, <br /> Cynthia Sturgis. <br />
