Discussion on outside help for fund raising : David Burton reported that t,wo meetings ago , we had been . discussing put- lic awareness , goal 2 , 000 . David stated that they had been talking about an education campaign for public awareness, and how we might attack that . David suggested use of our cable access station, Chanel 20 : Our library hours will be run for free . Mary O 'Keefe Tischler is the manager of Government Affairs at out local cable station. She would be happy to help in any way, couple of ideas David presented 1. As we get going , something for presentation will be produced on our Cable Tv station. Helene explained that this year the Library was asking for money for the study. Next year they will ask for money for the design work. At the same time, hopefully, the library will be raising some funds ; There should also be some state grant money available in that time-frame, so that was part of the package, and the rest , they wou-ld have to be funded through town appropriation. The time frame will be three years . Discussion. Mimi Marsh suggested that the library kick off their fund- raising campaign beginning with the first of the new year . It was agreed that the library would have to find a way of getting the Friends to become more active , and getting more people to join the Friends of the Library. if you research other libraries , you will find that the Friends are the ones who are working . IV BUDGET : A. Possibility of an emergency meeting to discuss budget be- fore it is presented ; Helene reported that they had basically been told that things were very tight , and they hould ask for a level-funded budget . In her conversations with Bob Whritenour,, Helene had explained that they really needed to go for the youth services , ch-ildren ' s position .
