Progress on mailings to increase membership: Jane reported that the mailings were going to be handled by the office with which David Burton was affiliated ,, Kinlin Grover . They have to f-it the mailings in wl.t.h their other business . Therefore, the mailings 'have not g.orae out yet , Jane will call David relative to the railings . o Report on Candidates.' Meeting : Teri Hyde reported that she felt that the attendees had their own agenda , and in her opinion, they knew for whom their - planned to vote. However , she stated, , the questions were planted. Questions were all planned . So , whatever positive comes out o_f that , it was n television. D# Town Meeting Retrospect : Helene reported that she was stunned , but not speechless . Helene explained that Tari had stated that , "If you don ' t know what a bargain is , stop in to see -us at the l ashpee Library" . LIBRARY DIRECTOR REPORTS : Helene reported that she had a revised report for last month which was handed out . Helene further explained that the reports had not come from CLAMS and she could not break the figures down for the meeting report . Relative to the April 1998 report , again there were some problems with the April statistical reports generated at the CLAMS office. They should be available later in the month. Helene referred to the Library Construction item in her re- port for the month of April. 1998 ( $30 ,811 . 11) . She felt we should use some of that for the installation of a secur- ity system. Helene wants to do some research on prices , etc . The problem .is , as with everything else, they have such a small staff , it is n t possible. to watch for pos- sible thef t . Helene will look into various security systems . Helene suggested that they should look at tear loam policy. Presently, they allow patrons to take - 10 books , 5 ehildrens , 'dults . For starters , Helene suggested patrons take, 10 books regardless of whether they are adult or other . Helene stated that their new staff position has been approved . Hopefully, it. will be advertised some tine in dune so that they can hire somebody as quickly as possible. -The position cannot be filled before ,duly 1 , 1998 .Tine interviews and the hiring procedure can be accomplished, the sooner , the better .
