FRIENDS of THE MASHPEE LIBRARY <br /> II MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING,: . Minutes of August 11 , 1998 were <br /> accepted as presented. <br /> III REPORTS : <br /> Director ' s Report : Helene passed, around copes of her report <br /> for the month of August , 1998 ; a very busy month., 11 ,.855 items , <br /> slightly less - than last August ,, -which was the bu. iest month the <br /> library ever had . What amazed the stiffwas the number of new <br /> cards issued last month, 123 new cards . <br /> The summer 'reading progxam ended with their party on August 12th. <br /> The party was limited to just children, and the meeting - room was <br /> filled . Mo the clown entertained the, children . Each child was <br /> presented with a certificate signed by Gov . Celluccl, and each <br /> child received a book to tak home. <br /> Last month the shelving for the military and their plans for that <br /> were discussed . An unexpect-ed plus of moving the military infor- <br /> mation -is <br /> nfor- <br /> m ti n -is we were able to move all the handouts off the table in <br /> the Adult Department . This freed. up two tables that patrons can <br /> use for research, etc . <br /> Friends o.f the Library. .Report ; ,Jane Stockbridge announced that <br /> she planned. to resign as president of Friends of the Library as <br /> of September 29 , 1998 . ,Jane. stated that she is -not resigning from <br /> the Friend She will continue to help , but will be unable to <br /> fulfill the duties of president -past the September 29th date. <br /> .Jane granted to. thank all of those. who had he'lpe-d. her in her capa- <br /> o ity as president of, the Friends and she also wanted t thank <br /> David. Burton for doing wonderful. job on the potrd campaign. <br /> ,Jane expa,l ined that she had had an executive board meetin.g , and <br /> at .the. executive board meeting , she found out that their book <br /> bags had arrived . Jane had a sample -book -bag to present to the <br /> meeting . The book bags will sell for $10. 00 ap iec'e. <br /> .Jane suggested we place a full display of the book. bags on the <br /> shelf of the mini-book sale area as soon as possible. <br /> .Jane explained that they had purchased the minimum that they <br /> could order - 3 . <br /> Mini suggested that she felt at least another 50 book bags should <br /> be ordered at this time. <br />
