-Ma-shpee Public Library <br /> P.O. Box 657 <br /> Mashpee,MA 02649 <br /> Circulation for the month of December 1999 totaled 6,898 item. This was slightly less than Dccembel.98 <br /> When 147 more items circulated. Included in these totals were 5,103 adult items, 1,7(.4 juvenile items and <br /> 3 young adult items. There wore 2344 fiction, 1,033 non-fiction,296 paperbacks, 179 periodicals,718 <br /> audiocassettes, 3 compact discs,I,945 videocassettes., 300 large print bodes and 3 9 puppet lits. The library <br /> registered I 1 I new borrowers during the month. During the month,the library made 2,863 loans t <br /> Massachusetts residents that lure outside Mashp e. Fifty loans were made to out-of-state residents. <br /> The library borrowed 272 items for Mashpee patrons through interlibrary loan and loaned 257 items to <br /> other libraries for their patrons, There were 3,956 patron visits in December. <br /> December is one of our quieter months, especially just before the holidays. I spent time completing and <br /> submitting the budget and working on the collection. The budget is true the first week of January and a <br /> review session with the Town Admirfistrator will take place in January. I have been weeding the Large <br /> Print collection to male room on the shelves. we are already using the top and bottom shelves in this <br /> section and it is getting difficult for the volunteers to shelf rctums. I have tent a number of items to the <br /> West Falmouth Library for several months and weeded out items owned by other CLAMS' hbrari s,which <br /> didn't circulate Dere. This has made a bit of room but the section is still very crowded. <br /> The library filed a letter of intent with the Board of Library Commissioners for a Cross-Cultural Mini- <br /> Grant. <br /> innGrant. The application is due in March and if we arc approved for a grant, the library will rcc ive $8,000 <br /> for Cross-Cultural programs and materials. <br /> �. <br /> The library served as an Art-I-Gras site on New Year's Eve. The first too everts were very well attended, <br /> as they were geared for younger children. We were pleased with the turnout and will probably serve as a <br /> site next year. <br /> Overdue fines for Dcccrnb r totaled$635.55.
