BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES •. <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> 4/9/02 <br /> RAGE TWO <br /> V NEW BUSINESS: continuend <br /> Anton Buschenfeldt: David explained, on behalf o.f the trustees, <br /> the Friends, and. the building -committee ,,- and the Town of Mashpee,, <br /> he would -like to start off by -presenting a plague from the Town <br /> of- Mashpee signed by ' ll of the selectmen for thein grateful <br /> thanks . <br /> Joyce Matson, the Town Administrator' stated .that they were <br /> delighted to do that for Anton. Joyce stated that Evelyn nd� <br /> Anton were the kind of people who worked hard but do not want <br /> any thanks. David stated that people like Anton and Evelyn <br /> made Mashpe - the .g e t town that it was . <br /> The- President of the Friends acknowledged that Anton and Mrs. <br /> Bus-ehenfeldt enjoyed the- theate.r, therefore they presented <br /> there with a pair of tickets to the show of their choice. <br /> Anton thanked the group for- this recognition, and had not ex- <br /> pected-anything <br /> x - <br /> pected.,a ything like -this . <br /> Members of the building committee who were present- introduced <br /> themselves . <br /> Members of the' Friends were introduced to the meeting. <br /> David explained that thebuil-ding committee had identified. two <br /> or three other possible sites that would make sense to consider <br /> for the new library. They were town-owned parcels of land, <br /> pieces of -land that belong to- Ma hpee Commons . David explained <br /> that the property site on hieh� the present library is constructed, <br /> was purchased from' Mashpe commons at -a very nominal fee for use <br /> s a library. Last spring the Mashpee Library prepared a feasibil- <br /> ity - study to determine whether they could use the present library <br /> and acid on to the present structure. <br /> The building committee went 'around and looked at these various <br /> sites as far as suitability, proximity to the schools, c nsidered <br /> traffic, they measured the- other sites', against the existing site, <br /> and adding to this building-, and adding what amounts to about a <br /> 1-5rOOO s, f. addition. <br /> One thing they considered, if they were to build on another site , <br /> what would become of the present library building, and also the <br /> re-location problem. WherO would the library go while the new <br /> addition was being, built <br />
