r BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES-SPECIAL MEETING <br /> MONDAY,MARCH 109 2003 , <br /> MASUPEE L11BRARY MEETING ROOM <br /> Present: Ann MacDonald-Dailey, Carlo 1 ' ste,Alice Rauppius,Mimi NUrsh, David Burton, <br /> and Helene DeFoe,, Library hector. <br /> Absent: Dianna Smith, Gary Eynatian. <br /> David Burton., Chairman, called this special meeting to order at :02 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Alice Raupp accept ius motioned to t the February 25, 2003 minutes as presented; Carlo D"Este <br /> p <br /> seconded the notion; and it was unanimously passed. <br /> Budget Impact on LibraEj Hours <br /> The Trustees discussed in detail that due to budget constraints unfortunately the Library cannot <br /> function with the limited staff and heavy workload. The consensus reached is the community <br /> could be better served if the Library were to close on Friday rather than Saturday. Some of the <br /> r <br /> rano ns. <br /> • Some Library users can only get to the Library materials on Saturday. <br /> • Friends of the Library hold 2 book sales per month on Saturday. <br /> • Book drop could not accommodate 2 nays being unattended. <br /> David i mentioned that he spoke with Wayne Taylor and also with Ken Miart rs. It's unfortunate <br /> but the economic strains have this impact. <br /> Helene advised that while she's on vacation Sandy Price will be in charge and will handle any <br /> taskS which rust be done before Helene returns. Any natters that are not urgent will wait until <br /> Helene returns and she will tape care of those items herself <br /> Motion: Carlo moved to rescind the motion passed at the February 25, 2003 meeting calling for <br /> closing the Library on Saturday and that the vote of February 25 be amended; this was seconded <br /> by Alice; and was unary mously approved. <br /> Motion: Ann motioned that the Library be closed Fridays beginning the week of March 17, 2003 <br /> and that we post a notice to that effect; Carlo seconded this motion; and it was unanimously <br /> carried. <br /> The Trustees previewed and approved the proposed notice of Friday closing that will be posted at <br /> the Library. David will contact the newspapers and notify there of the Friday closing beginning <br /> the week of March 1' ,2003. <br /> Doting that this reduction in hogs may possibly affect the Library accreditation, Carlo suggested a <br /> letter be seat to the Library Commission to let there know what we're doing and that it's <br /> unavoidable. <br />
