BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> REGULAR <br /> - - - <br /> TUESDAY,'MARCH 16, 2004 - - <br /> MASHFEE LIBRARY <br /> Present; Ann MacDonald-Dailey,David Burton, Carlo D ste,Heather Lakatos, and.selene <br /> eFoe,, Library Director. <br /> Absent: Dianna Smith,Alice Rauppius, and Mini Marsh <br /> David Burton, Chairman, delayed calling the meeting to order until 632 p.m. because the Trustees <br /> did not have a quorum until 6:32 p.m. <br /> Minutes of Previous Meeting <br /> Minutes of the previous meeting held February 17, 2004 were tabled to be approved at next <br /> meeting since David suggested this would give all Trustees time to review these February 17 <br /> minutes. <br /> Reports <br /> elene's report was distributed and discussed. In addition,Helene gave a lengthy and detailed <br /> explanation of CLAMS Mllenniunm Acquisitions software and the training she attended to b <br /> versed on the aspects of this software. <br /> Janet's report was distributed and discussed. Copies of Helene's and Janet"s reports are attached <br /> to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> Bud et <br /> Budget recommendations from Town Administrator were discussed. She has proposed eliminating <br /> the vacant circulation assistant position. This was discussed at the previous meeting and was not <br /> acceptable to the trustees. David was instructed to convey this to Joyce in a letter. favid read his <br /> letter of February 2 ,2004 to Joyce into the rccod. In answer to questions from the trustees, <br /> David said that he had received no response to his letter either from Joyce or the Board o <br /> Selectmen. (Copy of February 24 letter is attached to printed set of these minutes). <br /> Grants <br /> Helene had received an email From the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners(MBLC) <br /> about a new round of building grants. Letters of intent are due in the fall. There followed a <br /> discussion of needing the Board of Selectmen approval to apply for any grants. when the current <br /> building was built,the trustees authorized applying for the grant. Discussion continued over which <br /> body should be approving applying for grants. <br /> David, with the support of the other trustees, will contact the MBLC to further define the roles o <br /> the trustees. <br />
