Date: November 1, Zoo <br /> To: Helene B. f eFo e <br /> From: Janet Burke <br /> Re: Monthly Deport <br /> The month of October bcgan with a special family storytime on October 2 d frig Ryan's <br /> Scary(but not that seam) Tail Tales for Children was sponsored by the Upper Cape <br /> Family Network. There were 43 people who enjoyed Big Ryan's tales. <br /> On October .I visited the Kids Klub Preschool. f brought stories to 20 children in the <br /> morning session and 12 children in the afternoon session. <br /> I attended the quarterly meet i g of the upper Cape Family Network,in Falmouth on <br /> October 14'h. <br /> On October 18"I met with Joy Smith, the Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist from <br /> the I .C. Coombs School. we discussed a literacy collaboration effort between the <br /> school and the library. K.C. Coombs' students will receive a punch card and the card <br /> will be punched each time they visit the Mashpee Public Library. This collaboration <br /> project will begin in November and continue throughout the school year. <br /> The annual Title one Parents' Meeting at the library took place on October 19 . I spoke <br /> to the parents about what the library has to offer, and Hien field a storytime for the <br /> children. There were 7children and parents for this event. The school superintendent, <br /> Trish Parolski, attended this program. <br /> 4 <br /> I attended the Children's Librarians Roundtable meeting in Chatbain on October 22"x. <br /> Our Annual Family Library Event will take place on November 130' at the Cape Cod <br /> Conununity College. <br /> On October 23 met with Lee Drescher, a Falmouth resident rhor <br /> p oposd a <br /> per~forniing arts prograrn for the library. She would work with a small group of school <br /> age children to bring a children's book to life, and then present one or more <br /> performances. Ms Drescher has done this program over 20 times in Wellesley, prior to <br /> relocating to the Cape. f thought it sounded like a wonderful program for our library, <br /> however, her fee was quite substantial. I asked 'if she would consider writ a grant <br /> proposal to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. we met again on October 29 and <br /> November 1 t to collaborate on this grant. Awards will be announced by the Arts <br /> Foundation of Cape Cod on December 15'h. <br /> Debbie Umffia returned to the 1 la hpee Public Library on October 3 00'to provide a <br /> sewing craft for school age children. There were 9 children who participated in the <br /> Pumpkin Box craft project. <br /> 4 <br />
