DeFoe <br /> From: Janet Burke <br /> Re: Monthly Report <br /> The month of July has seen a lot of activity in the Children's Room as almost Zoo <br /> children have signed up to participate in the Statewide Summer Library Adventure, <br /> Going Places @ your library. Again this year, I collaborated with the public schools in <br /> Mashp ee and helped develop suggested summer reading list for grades K through . All <br /> of the students in grades K through 4 are required to log their reading time. The reading <br /> logs were sera hone through the schools. when children bring their Breading log into the <br /> library, they receive a small prize for their reading effort and for visiting the library. <br /> As part of the Sumner Reading Program,I have offered a weekly Trivl*a Contest. The <br /> winner each week receives a"Going Places @ your library" T-shirt. we have had the <br /> following participation for the Trivia Contest: <br /> July 2"d57 entries <br /> duly 9th 56 entries <br /> July 16th 54 entries i <br /> July 23 to 19 entries <br /> July 30t" 26 entries <br /> Family Story Tiume was held on July 2°d. There were 25 participants who enjoyed Fourth <br /> of July stories and songs. <br /> Bingo for Books was held on July th. There were 55 participants who enjoyed old- <br /> fashioned bingo and Avon a boob for a prize. Everyone left a winner.. <br /> The Friends of the Mshpee Library sponsored a magic show by Scott Jameson on July <br /> 12'h. This program was well attended by 103 people. <br /> First Day Friends visited the library on July 14 Ih. These are children who will be <br /> attending Kindergarten in the fall. The families meet each week during the summer so <br /> that the children will have some friends on the first day of school. There were 32 people <br /> who listened to stories and songs about going to school. <br /> Thepp er Cape Family Network sponsored program on July 20'hcalled Barn Babies. <br /> p <br /> roman from Lakeville brought 26 baby farm animals to the library. Children were <br /> male to hold the animals as they were wrapped in receiving blankets. There were puppies, <br /> Mittens, rabbits, chi <br />
