The Board was extremely pleased that voters at Annual Town
Meeting unanimously approved charging Children's Librarian position from part-time to full-time position.
Helene then distributed a copy of Janet Burke's monthly report for April, which was also reviewed and
discussed. The 'trustees were impressed. ith the fact that the attendees at the April 18th Alex the Jester
performance numbered 18 1.. Copies of H lene's and Ja et's reports are attached to the printed set of these
minutes.
'undral in Report, Melinda Gallant
Melinda began her update report to the Board by saying she wished she could say we already raised a million
dollars, but instead we have a long way to go.' 1 lel da said there is a plan and that actually we are on time
with the planned outline, but don't have the money yet. Some of the highlights touched on during Melinda's
presentation included the following:
Important for Board of Library'trustees to be behind the fundraising efforts; and important that all
participate and work together on this. In addition, Melinda stressed that.this Board should be active in
getting information to Town leaders.
Currently have approximately$40,000 received from medium and small donations.
Mashpee women's Club has o fere .a challenge grant in the amount of$7,500.
Whale Frail project has been underwritten by Mashpee Commons. In addition, the whal bucks wale will be auctioned off on both eBay and live auction.
Thus far ticket response for the May 19th art and signing book auction to be held at Coonamessett Inn
is weak even though this was picked a "Best Bet'' in the Cape Cod'times.
