An Execufive Session immediately followed the public hearing.The fcllcwing actions were taken by the Committee directly after the hearing: BILLS That were HEARD BEFORE THE COMMITTEE Thursday, March 2M 11:00 a.m. F Hearing loom Al 51996 An Act Relative to the State Library Senator Augustus This statute requires the Mate Library to maintain a depository library system for state publications.This bill was reported favorably by the Committee. 51997 An Act Establishing the Public Libraries Fund Senator Augustus This bill would establish in the Massachusetts General Laws a public library fund to be administered by the MBLC.This bill would also provide authorization for the MBLC to use a small amount of the funds for adminlstrab a purposes.The FY2007 state budget appropriated $250,000 for this new line item and Governors budget recommends zero funding for FYo . Currently there is only FY2007 budget language that authorizes this program. Budget language has the force of law for only one year.The Committee recommended this bill favorably.
