It's Goad to be Green*, Tours of Two Environmentally <br /> Friendly Libraries 9:3o to 5 N Judy 1g, 2007 <br /> Thursday, July i9 N Tour and workshop begins at the Wendell Free <br /> Library and includes roundtrip bus ride to North Adams Public Library <br /> Join librarians,consulta3nts and architects as we explore the ways that"green <br /> building"methods can lead to environmentally friendly library designs.The day <br /> will begin at the new Wendell Public Library with a general introduction to <br /> "ween"design concepts by MBLC Library Building Consultant/Small Library <br /> Specialist Anne Larsen.Wendell Library Director Rosie Heidkamp and library <br /> architect Margo Jones will describe how green theory became practice in the <br /> Wendell project.A�chartered bus will take us to the historic 1869 North Adams <br /> Public Library,where an addition/renovation was completed in 2005.During a <br /> library tour Library Director Marcia Gross will describe how photovoltaic panels <br /> produce some of the libmr/s electricity,and discuss the ground-source heat <br /> pump <br /> that provides heating and cooling.NAPL is the first LEED Uoeadershipin . <br /> Energy and Environmental Design} certified library building project in <br /> Massachusetts, and Michael'nllou,the consultant critical to North Adams-Public <br /> Library receiving their LEED certification,will describe their process.Architect <br /> David King will provide an overview of LEED principles and explain the <br /> advantages of incorporating green elements early in the design process. <br /> Presenters Larsen,Jones,Tillou and King are LEED-certified professionals. �. <br /> Participants will return by bus to their cars in Wendell bY 5:0 0 p.m.Box lunches . <br /> will be provided.Mary Icing is the WMRIS contact person for this program. <br /> Registration deadline:July 6.Registration limit: 2�.
