DeFoe <br /> From: Janet Burke <br /> Re: Monthly Report <br /> The Statewide Summer Reading Program,, "Catch the Beat at Your Library" continued <br /> through the month of August. This year we had 274 registered participants, which is <br /> slightly higher than last year3ps total of 260. Children were asked to confit to read <br /> minimum of 20 minutes per day at least 5 days a week. When children brought their <br /> reading log into the library, they received a small prize for their reading effort and for <br /> visiting the library. The final prize of the summer was a coupon for a free ice cream cone <br /> from Polar Cave Ice Cream.Parlor. Mark Lawrence,, owner of the Polar Cave, was very <br /> generous in agreeing to sponsor the Mashpee Public Library's summer reading program. <br /> This summer the Mashpee Public Library participated in the Statewide Online Summer <br /> Leading Program. I set up gree programs online: one for Fids, one for Teens and one <br /> for Adults. We had 50 children registered online, 21 teens and 9 adults. Teens who read <br /> 10 books this summer earned a coupon for a free ice cream sundae from.the Polar Cave. <br /> I had 3 teens who completed the program. The adult who posted the most reviews won a <br /> book bag from the Friends of the Library. <br /> As part of the Summer Leading Program, I offered a Weekly Trivia Contest. The winner <br /> each week received a"Catch the Beat at Your Library" T-shirt.
