Communication continued
Reguest for Used DVDs
Dianna Smith received a written request from a co-worker for used DVDs to be sent to military serving
overseas. Helene said if she cones across any that are in the book sales, then she would contact Dianna.
Suggestion was rade by Jane that perhaps sending the request to Blockbuster or larger library Facilities such
as Boston would be more productive. Dianna and the Board agreed and Tiann.a will pass the information
along.
Old Business f
Ann MacDonald-Dailey said it is tune for her to be replaced as Library Trustee. This will be the last meeting
she will attend in person. Until Trustee appointed, she will continue to participate at meetings via conference
call.
LibLM Project
Jane Dolan reported that Shelly had asked her to do research on what cost increase would be if certain energy
efficient features were made to thepro posed building project. Jane said she's looking into it and she doesn't
think there would b -any great cost involved.
Helene reported that David Burton signed the grant contract with the Board of Library Commissioners and he
sent it to Joyce Mason for review by Joyce, by the Board of Selectmen and by Town.Counsel. Therefore, it
probably will be sent to the State in the near terra.
Nancy Soderberg asked Helene about the 15% increase that was being discussed in the state grant. Helene
responded that representative Turkington called and talked about the 15%that is still out there. It is part of
the bond bill that is still with the Governor.
The Boards ed Helene how the contract with Architect Stewart Roberts is progressing. Helene said she
would check with Joyce Mason for an update.
Jane Dolan recommended Town go through a process called"charrett"...which are brainstorming sessions
that would involve everyone—that is, town officials, Trustees, Committees, cone aunity, town departments,
etc. Jane also suggested that perhaps someone such as Buff Chace would serve as the facilitator of'the
essionss . She said this is something she learned about through the Kresge grant. Jane added that it has to
be done early enough in the process to be meaningful and maybe Springtime would be a good time. Ann
MacDonald-Dailey suggested putting something in the Preface and that might get people thinking about ideas.
&ports
Helene distributed copies of her monthly report, the CLAMS circulation statistics report, and Janet ure's
report for Octobcr. These reports were reviewed and discussed. Copies of the reports are attached to the
printed set of these minutes.
Helene then distributed the draft budget she prepared for review by the Trustees. Helene said she is still to do
the narrative and that the narrative and proposed budget to be submitted to the Town Manager by November
2 1 st. -
2
