The Mashpee High School Key Club had planned a series of Pajama Story Times to be <br /> held every two weeks. The first event in October was very successful and many families <br /> were looking forward to the next Pajama Story Time. The teens have discovered that it <br /> requires a lot of work and preparation in order to provide a successful story time and have <br /> decided to plan the events for once a month. on December 6th I met with 4 teens to <br /> assist them with planning and preparation for the December story time. They all <br /> practiced reading their stories aloud and requested suggestions from me to enhance their <br /> storytelling skills. Unfortunately, the Pajama Story Time scheduled for December 13 th <br /> was canceled due to inclement weAther.` <br /> Mrs. Greene's first grade class scheduled a walking field trip to the library on December <br /> 7 . Where were 23 participants who had a tour of the library, story time and checked out <br /> .books. <br /> The Mashp ee Christmas Parade was held on December 8h. Bob Lakatos and his crew <br /> created a wonderful float for the library depicting the story of The Polar Express. There <br /> were children on board the train and the adults, dressed in chef s attire, included Helene <br /> DeFoe, Rosemary Modic, Claudia Hinkle, Danny Burke and myself <br /> On December I&I visited the K. C. Coombs School to help kick-off the-new BEAR Be <br /> Excited About Reading) Cards. Mrs. Motta, the new vice-principal, and I did a <br /> presentation for each of the four grade levels (Pre-I , K, 1 and 2 'in the Coombs School. <br /> We spoke to a total of 463 children to encourage them to visit the library and obtain their <br /> own BEAR Card. Children have their BEAR Card punched each time that they visit the <br /> library. When they have received 10 punches, they.bring the card to the Coombs School <br /> and receive a prize. <br /> I attended the Children's Librarians Roundtable Meeting on December 1 in Cotuit. <br /> We had two guest speakers from MatchBook.org. MatchBook.orgis a public service <br /> provided by New England Foundation for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural <br /> Council. It is a variable tool for libraries to research performers for library programming <br /> Rosemary and I held a Holiday Drop-In Craft activity on December 19,h. This event was <br /> well-attended by 50 people. <br /> Where were 74 children who participated in the Candy Kisses Guessing Contest for the <br /> month of December. <br />
