BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> EES <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> Ti S] A ,SEPTEMBER ,2008 <br /> MASBP CENTER SENIOR C 1 Eft NF RENCE ROOM <br /> Present: David Burton, Carlo I 'Este,Jane Dolan,Nancy Soderberg,John.Kowalski, Feather Lakatos,Dianna Smith, <br /> and Helene IeFoe,Librairy Director. <br /> Chairman David Burton called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. David opened the meeting by welcoming Dianna Smith <br /> back. <br /> Approval of Minutes, <br /> Jane Dolan motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of July 8, 2005 as presented;David Burton seconded this <br /> notion; and the Board approved it,with Heather La otos and Dianna Smith abstaining. <br /> 4'h Annual walk to Read Event <br /> Heather L k tos updated the Trustees on the walk to Dead Event to take place Sunday, September 14: <br /> Registration will beat 9 a.m. on Sunday;the walk will start at 10 a.m. <br /> $1500 in sponsorship money has been received. <br /> • All advertising is out. <br /> • <br /> 2 - registered so far. They will probably exceed last year's enrollment,which was close to 90 participants. <br /> Reports <br /> Helene DeFoe submitted her combined monthly report for July and August,along with Janet Burke's report for the sane <br /> two months. All reports were reviewed and are attached to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> Ub ary Building Project <br /> Helene reported that eliminating the extra staircase under 7thEdition State Building Code made a huge difference to us. <br /> It ends up being less expensive and also picks up floor space both in the work room,her office, and upstairs in the teen <br /> area. <br /> LEEDS Certification <br /> Helene distributed to the Trustees a Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program listing of Provisional Green <br /> Incentive Awards...Mshpee's Potential Green Incentive Award is listed at$146,727. Helene also provided a <br /> "Frequently Asked Questions" listing for LEED new construction. Copies of both papers are attached t the printed set of <br /> these minutes. As examples of some of the sterns to consider towards counting in LEER Certification process,Helene <br /> mentioned: <br /> 0 Be within a.certain distance of mass transportation. <br /> Outside lights having shields over there. <br /> Add dedicated recycling closet. <br /> 0 reusing parts of the building—Joyce contacted someone who was interested in buying some of the exterior <br /> parts of the old building. 4 <br /> 0 Contractor will also have to recycle what can be recycled when building demolished. <br /> • Helene slid the letter of intent yesterday, and she is going to a LEEDS workshop next month. <br /> 0 You have to use certified lumber. <br /> 0 LEEDS Certificate issued when the building is done. <br />
