BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES V <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,MARCH 10,2009 <br /> TOWN HALL MEETING ROOM <br /> Present; David Burton, Carlo D'Este, John Kowalski,Nancy Soderberg, and Helene DeFoe, Library <br /> Director. <br /> Absent: Heather Lakatos, Dianna Smith, and Jane Dolan. <br /> Chairman David Burton called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Carlo D'Este motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of February 10, 2009 as written; John Kowalski <br /> alski <br /> seconded this notion; and the motion was unanimously approved. <br /> Reports <br /> orts <br /> Helene DeFoe distributed copies of her monthly report for February, along with the February CLAMS <br /> circulation statistics report; listing of downloadable audio checkouts through 2/2812009; and Janet urke's <br /> monthly report for February. Copies of all these reports are attached to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> The reports were reviewed and discussed. Highlights of the discussion included: <br /> • The Trustees expressed them gratitude to Helene for her efforts in working with Barbara Notarius to <br /> submit the Cape Cod Youth Empowerment Initiative grant request seeking $20,000. They also <br /> expressed their thanks to Helene for all her hard work on the new library building project. <br /> • Helene mentioned that when furnishings for the neve library are being recommended, she has already <br /> mentioned that they will see the actual pieces being considered and sit in the chairs and at the tables to <br /> • be certain they are comfortable and practical, rather than relying on pictures in a catalog. <br /> Helene explained the Teen Tech week clone by Janet Burke. The Trustees mentioned seeing this <br /> reported in the newspaper and expressed their appreciation for all of Janet urke's accomplishments. <br /> Library Building Project <br /> Nancy Soderberg reported to the Trustees that she attended the February 24th Planning and Construction <br /> Committee meeting. She provided the Trustees with the Project update summary distributed at that meeting <br /> by Rich Ponry, fancy said Rick is doing a fantastic job and details everything in his project updates. <br /> The Trustees entiorred'how pleased they are to see the construction progress that has been made already. <br /> Helene comm rated that the Contractor said the steel frarne will go up quickly and then it will look as though <br /> they"re not doing anything but it takes time to let everything settle,tighten all the bolts, etc. <br /> Jack Kowalski asked whether or not.consideration should be given to video taping the construction and that <br /> would record how the library building progressed. He said maybe someone could do the video at, say, weekly <br /> intervals. It was suggested that perhaps sorra of the high school students would be interested in doing the <br /> video. Jack Kowalski will contact Arthur Joia, Media Arts Director at the high school. <br />
