Mashpee Public Library <br /> P 0 Box 657 <br /> Mashpee MA <br /> Circulation March was 9,225 items. This compares Fr ith last year's circulation of <br /> 10,769. Year-t -date circulation 88,484 compared to 102,668 items circulated <br /> during-the.same time period last year. In addition, Mashpee now has circulated <br /> 842 downloadable books. Mashpee still has the second highest number <br /> downloadable a-books transactions among participating libraries. <br /> Barbara Notarius. and I had some success with the Young Adult (YA) grant vire <br /> submitted last month. We did not get the entire $20,000 that was requested. <br /> However, eve were awarded , 2 . . We felt that was a very good response t <br /> out application. I've included a breakdown of ghat vire were awarded. As part of <br /> that same grant project, Barbara and' I traveled to the Wellfleet Library to hear a <br /> presentation by Patrick Jones, a noted YA author. <br /> The bean signing I mentioned at the Inst meeting took place on March 12th. A <br /> great number of residents took part in the signing and it was very well covered <br /> in the Mashpee Enterprise. It will remain visible for the next fever yrs. several <br /> sixth grade classes from Quashnet school walked over and took part in the <br /> signing. Promptly at 2:30, the beam was raised into place over the Steeple Street <br /> entrance. It was s a nice way to involve the community in the building project, <br /> The building subcommittee has continued bi-weekly meetings. The March IV' <br /> meeting spent quite a bit of time looking at illustrations of furniture that Starr <br /> had brought to the meeting. We were able to excludethings we didn't like and <br /> narrow it down to several styles that may be possibilities. A fever of the <br /> subcommittee members are taking a field trip t two libraries n April to view <br /> some of the furnishingthat are under consideration* Northborough Libre and <br /> Library <br /> h rl t n Library are two f Stewart's recently completed libraries. He has <br /> arranged the visits for us so we can see and try out the tables and chairs he has <br /> recommended, Vi ging actual furnishings rather than photos in a catalog should <br /> be a big help in the selection process. <br />
