i I On September l net with Bill Harding, the manager of Carne Stop. We talked about Purchasing gaming equipment and games for the'Teen Grant. He is unable to discount the gaming equipment, however, he did offer to cone to the library to set up the equipment. He also offered to train the staff and he is grilling to collaborate on gaming programs. I think his knowledge and expertise is more valuable than a discount He is checking with.his regional manager about the possibility of matching the discount of % on games which is offered by . - he Young Adult Librarian from Harwich told me that when she was trying to build her circulating collection of games, she went to Game Stop and purchased used games. The Children's Irbranans Roundtable met in Hyannis on September l e. As president of the Roundtable, I plan the guest speaker and agenda, and I facilitate the meeting. our guest speaker was a sales representative from Barefoot Books, very high quality children's boobs. She, explained the background history of Barefoot Books and offered the librarians a generous discount. . I attended the M shp ee Community Partnership Meeting n September 22d, Last June it was voted by Council members to fund Toddle Time at the-library. However, there were additional cuts in the budget over the summer.- "The .line item in the budget to fund Rose 'Rosemmy's programwas severely cut. The Council is still trying to decide hover to best use whatlittle money is left.- one of the programs they are trying to bring back are the free playgroups run by Rosemary. In the past,these playgroups were held at the Cape . Cod Children's Museum and they charged a-rental fee for the space. CPC is looking into holding playgroups la oux s t the elementary school. On September 23 Helene and I attended-the first meeting for Mashpee Reads. NUshpee. . Reads was initiated by the public schools. 'Their mission is to promote'reading town wide and the ulnu*nation will be the opening of the new library. I had a new volunteer g begin helping me in the-Children's Room on September 2 . Her � p name is Carla and she recently moved here from Chile where she was a high school art teacher. She is volunteering at-the library to tory to improve her English. On September 28P I attended the combined meeting-for the Upper Cape Family Network and the CPCs. Where were 27 people in attendance and I-was the only representative = from Mash e . I sat next to'Tien Madden, the State Rep for Falmouth and Nantucl et..and Beth money, the Director of Child Care Network.-It was a''very informative meeting : - d a wonderful opportunity for networldng.
