Discussion
Helene said she e-mailed the Trustees with a request from Carl Meredith asking if the Republican Party an do a voter
registration drive that would he strictly non-partisan at the Library. They would set up a table outside but if inclement
whether they asked could they move inside. The consensus of the Trustees was that Helene should e-mail Mr. Meredith
back with the Trustees' request that he go to the Board of Registrars and to the Town Cleric for approval.
Motion: David Burton motioned that Carl Meredith may use the library grounds for the purpose of non-partisan
voter registration subject to the approval of the Board of Registrars and the Town Clerk; Carlo ' ste seconded
this motion.
Roll-call vote was taken and all Trustees present Jane Dolan no longer present)voted in favor of the motion,
The motion passed.
Warrant Articles
Helene reported that she submitted the 2 Town Meeting Warrant Articles—one to acid a reference librarian and the other
to add a circulation assistant.
Teale Cook advised that another$287,000 has to be cut from the Town budget because state funding was cut. Terrie
spoke saying she was not speaking for the Board of Selectmen but, rather, was speaking from her point of view and it's
possible the Board of Selectmen may not agree with her. She proposed amending the circulation assistant Article to
create 2-1 -hour positions rather than 1 full time position and remove the funding;and amend the reference librarian
Article to create, not fund, that position so that in the fug if economy shifts and funds become available then those
positions would at least have been created. Helene said the 19-hour circulation assistants make sense. David Burton
said he thins the way to do it is to amend the Articles as Terris suggests and to ask Terrie Cook, our liaison,to take
hack to the Board of Selectmen. Carlo commented that creating the library positions costs the Town nothing.
Motion: David Burton motioned the Board of Library Trustees requests the Board of Selectmen to amend the
Articles submitted to create 2 circulation assistants at 19 hours and to create a reference librarian position and
submit the 2 amended Articles at October'Town Meeting in 010;Patricia Gamache seconded this motion.
Roll-call vote was taken and all Trustees present(Jane Dolan no longer present)voted in favor of the motion.
The motion passed.
Library Staffing and Possible Modification of Operating Fours..*Tabled until neat Trustee meeting.
Old Business
Li rte_Dedication...It was the consensus of the Trustees to hold the Library Dedication on Friday,October 1, 2010 at
10 a.m. The subcommittee.will get together to go over list of invitees, invitations, etc.
Next Meeting....6 p.m., Tuesday,August 10,241.o in the Literary Conference Room.
Adjournment...
Patricia Gama.che motioned to adjourn the meeting; Carlo 'Este seconded the motion; and it was unanimously passed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
e tGifiberti
eSecretary
3
f
