Mashpee Public Library
4 Steeple St
P 0. Box 657
Mashpee MA 02649
508--539-1435 FAX 508-539-1437
Circulation for the rnonth of June 2010 totaled 12,996 iterns. That exceeded last year's total of 10,997 by
1,999 items. The monthly total increased 1 over the same time period last year. The library lost a
week's.worth of circulation figures because of the multiple closings for the odor problem. Our actual
figures would have been thousands of items higher if not for the closings.Year-to-date, Mashpee's
circulation figures total 124,409. Library card applications continue to grow at a phenomenal enal rate. We
continue to have high demand for new library cards.Actual figures for the month were not yet'avallable
o I will include the June figure with next month's report.
We appear to be at the end of the oid o r problem. Ceiling tiles from a batch that was made in o t ber
had a problem that Armstrong had experienced in other locations. The library closed on several days
during June while the town was still trying to identify the, sources of the odor.An environ menta I expert
was brought in and he quickly identified the ceiling tiles as the problem. The library closed again on June
lot"so the tiles could be replaced. When use came in on Monday, there was a noticeable freshness t
the air that had been missing for weeks. We have detected a slight odor in parts of the Children's Room.
I've reported that to Catherine Laurent and not heard back from her yet. It may be more tiles or
something else could have absorbed some of the odor. I'll continue to monitor it and report bank nett
month.
completed the Town Meeting Articles as I was instructed to do at the May meeting. The finished
articles were emailed to Kathleen Moore on Friday and she confirmed receiving therm. I did it on Friday
because I was going o be away on July 12t"which was the deadline date.
As I receive the Mashpee annual statistics from CLAMS, I will be completing the state ARIS report which
is due the end of August. The figures I distributed today reflect all of CLAMS. In the next few creeks,
LAMS will send each library their oven figures, broken down by material types and age groups. This
year, all ARIS submissions are being done online. I participated in a test group last year and thought it
was much more efficient than filling out the hard copies. The test was so successful that everyone is now
required to submitonline.
The annual inventory was due in June.Terri Cook was a big help to me in compiling the inventory forms.
Normally I just update last year's forms; adding new items and deleting withdrawn items. Since
everything was new this year, it eras a big job.Terri worked from the Accounting Department invoices
and created a spreadsheet for me. I reviewed what she submitted to rine and added the few items we
