Mashpee Public Library
4 Steeple St
P 0. Box 657
Mashpee MA 02649
508-539-1438
Circulation for the month of October 2010 totaled 13,719 items. That exceeded last year's total of 9,966
by 3,753 Iters. It's at o the highest t taI the library has ever had for an October count. The month ly
total is 4%ahead of last October. The yearly total is 70,466, compared to 46,861 for the first third of the
year. The YTD total increased by 50% rnore transactions compared to the same time period last year.
'
We issued 142 library cards. Added to the 1,789 issued since vire opened,we processed 1,931 library
cards since the April opening. once again, vire were the third busiest library behind Falmouth and
Harwich.
We continue to see strong usage of the library meeting spaces. Having the written policy has made the

process much h sr oother. We had 36 meeting room reservations and 46 quiet study room reservations in
October.
The month was incredibly busy for me. I had numerous big projects due during the month. The Financial
Report was completed and submitted to the M BLC on time.An application and photos for the Library
Journal Architectural issue was submitted. I assisted the Friends of the Library with aspects of the
volunteer bruin h.. It was a lovely event and the feedback from the volunteers has been very positive.
Quite a number sent thank you notes or personally told me hover mu h they enjoyed it. It was our first
adult event held in the library Events Room. Last year's brunch was held at a country club in Bourne.
While it was lovely, the staff had to travel there and be back In time to open the library. It was lovely
that some of the trustees were able to join us for the brunch.
Later that week,we held the twice postponed library dedication.Thank you to all the trustees that
helped'to organize and put the dedication together.Thank you to Jane, Fancy and David for helping to
gather all the ernails f6r the Evltes.Thank you to Jayne for designing and sending the Evites.Jack and
David did a wonderful job selecting the refreshments and arriving early to set thea up.Janet Burke
created a very classy program for the event. It looked like vire had sent it out to a printing company
rather than sornething that ver.as produced in-house. Ed's photo of the plaque printed on the last page
added a nice touch and Pat emailed the photo to her son for a little retouching that improved the color
and clarity of the wording on the plaque. Carlo did a marvelous job as Master of Ceremony and kept
things organized and moving along. Many thanks to the I lashpee VFW,Victoria Vieira, the I larshpee
High School A Capella Singers,Teri Cook, hike Richardson and George Comeau for participating in the
Dedication Ceremony and making it such a special day. Celeste Bruno,Communications Specialist Ply
