BOARD of LIBRARY TRUSTEES NSE 1 ING <br /> TUESDAY,JANUARY 10,2012 <br /> NASPE LIBRARY CONFERENCE Roots <br /> Present:John Kowalski,Patricia Gamache, Sue McGarry,Carlo 'Este, Sandra Lahart,Jane Dolan,and David Burton. <br /> Also Present: Kathy Mahoney,Library Director <br /> Mike Richardson–Board of Selectmen <br /> Jack Kowalski,Champ nan,called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. <br /> Approval of NEnutes <br /> acrid Burton motioned to approve the Regular Session minutes of December 13,2011 as amended and to approve the <br /> Executive Session.minutes of December 13,2011 as written. <br /> Motion was seconded by Patricia Gama he. - - <br /> VOTE: Ye"; I-Abstain. Motion passed. <br /> Roll Cats vote: John Kowalski,yes Patricia Gamache,yes <br /> Carlo D' ste,yes Sandra Lahart,yes <br /> Sue McGarry,yes David Burton,yes <br /> Jane Bolan,abstain. <br /> Reports <br /> Library Director's Repo <br /> Kathy Mahoney.distributed copies of her monthly.report for the month of December. She also provided a copy of <br /> organizational goals she compiled,which had be n requested by the Town Manager. Kathy said she hopes to tailor her <br /> monthly reports to reflect hove they are meeting these goals. Copies of the report and organizational goals document <br /> provided are attached to the printed set of these-minutes. In addition to reviewing and di cussing the report,the <br /> following were also discussed: <br /> • <br /> 15-16 volunteers offered to participate as Library volunteers under the Town tax abatement program. Library <br /> limited to 8 participants receiving tax abatement:. Kathy said those not granted the tax abatement are still going <br /> to volunteer time to the Library. <br /> Kathy advised that last night the Board of Selectmen approved filling the 2 Library staff vacancies. <br /> Jack had.riled Kathy to review Town Library accounts...Kathy said accounting is doing a report on the <br /> i donation account. Jack asked that she provide this information to the Trustees when she receives it. <br /> e Kathy explained the MEG account can be used for virtually anydiing that is service for the Library. She said as <br /> to the donation account,unless earmarked for a specific function Library can use it based on Trustee judgment; <br /> however,the Town does have guidelines to be followed. <br /> • Kathy explained that the fundraiser money will go right into the Donation Account—for example,money from <br /> ticket sales will go into the account and then expenses will come out of the account so it will also go through <br /> thisTown Hall account. <br /> 0 Kathy can approve expenditures up to$999. Then expenditure has to go to Town Manager for approval.- <br /> ran planning and wouldn't the or anizational goals fall under that plan? <br /> ,lane Dolan asked Kathy about the long � g g <br /> Kathy said goals would be encompassed within the long-range plan but Haat these organizational goals requested by the <br /> Town Manager pertain t goals employees aim fulfill. Kathy said Steve Brown is ready to stmt on the long^range <br /> planning but need to nail down who is gong to be on the long-range plan committee...just having a problem with <br /> scheduling meetings on everyone's calendar. <br />
