Mashpee Cable Advisory Technology Board
July 1 , 2002
Page—2-
Recommendations
2-
e mmendati ns regarding this matter. Using small monitors in the control morn
hinders seeing everyone from the operator's standpoint. He suggests moving and/or
i
adding a camera to the center of the room and small cameras for close up shots. A third
camera would be helpl for the audience.
Mr. Eliason notes a reference to 2 vide fixed and 2 vide steerable cameras would be
hest suited for this. Ilex. Shea feels the room doesn't really need a window. The board,
however, feels a window would be more professional looking as well as perhaps fending
off'any claustrophobia for the operators. The present door will not pass fire codes. 1 r.
Shea says the sound problem is very bad and feels the right equipment and proper set up
would help immensely. He mentions several kinds of microphones, but feels the desktop
would provide the best audibility so long as people are speaking within 18 inches of the
microphone. The cable vires need to be renovated so they are no longer %n the way and
we need an electrician to do this work. If the audio is poor there needs to be a method of
communication between the operator and the people at the meeting. We need to get
additional inputs (presently there are and purchase mixers to cut down on the
noise. The odium would best b suited with a standard rDicro hone
backgroundp
therefore leaving the 1 Oth irnput for the audience. Also, the present rack in the control
room is very uncomfortable for the operator and a desktop set up would be more
appropriate. There is a camera that is on the market that is a step up from what we have
now and would he most suitable for instant zoom. Mary O'Keefe suggests a
pressure zone microphone at the desk for audibility, however they are'expensive. lis.
Murphy is not using the one at the school and they may borrow that one to see if that
would work well for there. The board also discusses a digital VCR with a -hour view
that is very nice.
 . :6 ,
41
NJ,0
