Patriciastated she was here <br /> to represent the School Committee as well. Melissa began her presentation by giving the Board 2 <br /> videotapes that were done by students: <br /> • One is the 16-minute accreditation video they worked on for more than 6 months showing <br /> by accreditation is important to Mashpee. It was submitted to Comcast Video contest this <br /> year. New England Association of School Creditors issues the accreditation and Mashee <br /> used this video to kick-off introduction to our school and town when they cane for on-site <br /> visit. Kindergarten and early childhood were acredited last year and we should hear by late <br /> August. Once accredited, it's done for 10 years then you have to apply again. <br /> 0 Second one is half hour video on"day in the life of a kindergartener". <br /> Melissa Murphy then proceeded with her Witten proposal. This was discussed in depth,paragraph <br /> by paragraph. In addition, the Board asked Joyce fan for her input and guidance as to which <br /> requested items would he in the realm of the Cable Committee"s purview and which might b <br /> considered budget items. <br /> olita asked if they have anything budgeted for sound system? Patricia responded that they try to do <br /> so, but did less for next year since they have no money this year. One of their positions is if they <br /> i have good equipment they could get income by outsiders using. School Committee is working on a <br /> schedule of fees if they rent out equipment so they can afford to maintain. <br /> Jim asked if they got quotes from any other vendors. Patricia said"no",but these are lowest costs on <br /> state-approved vendor list, Next t question: Any other technical people considered? Melissa <br /> responded r`no"...She said she save problems when High School went with independent electrician; <br /> she trusts Sound System's work product. Jing asked: With interest in DVDs growing, wouldn't it be <br /> wiser to go the DVD route rather than TVNCR Consensus: Melissa to investigate price difference <br /> of DVD v . TVRNCR. <br /> Finally,Jing thanked Melissa and Pat for involving the students who have worked with the town and <br /> he commented he was impressed that the Superintendent of Schools was Dere at this meeting. Andy <br /> added that the relationship between School and this Board has improved tremendously. <br /> Following discussions and Joyce Mason's input, Joyce made the suggestion that the Board look at the <br /> whole technology picture and not just do it as each proposal comes in. Joyce added: Look at what <br /> serves community as a whole. Steve Buss and Pl nr ing are putting together a GIS proposal. <br /> Conclusion: Board will take this School proposal under advisement and have a meeting in July or <br /> August to review. Steve Buss stated he'd have proposal ready for August meeting. <br /> Motion: Jim motioned we defer School request until we have budget numbers and information from <br /> Steve on technical budget prepared; Lolita seconded this motion; and it was unanimously passed. <br /> When meeting date set,the Superintendent of Schools' office is to be contacted by phone or by e, <br /> mail.- Patricia gave her business card to Andy.
