Very lengthy, detailed discussions were held exploring the needs, as well as deter ining Bill Shea's role in the <br /> video broadcast operation. A host of topics were brought up for discussion; some of the items included the <br /> following: <br /> • Bill Shea is willing to be the Technical Adviser,which would include handling any technical problems that <br /> arise but would not include handling the administrative-type functions such as video scheduling, labeling of <br /> tapes, ensuring Control Room equipment and meeting room set-up is ready for meetings, etc. � <br /> • What is needed. Administrative-type who coordinates everything,a technical video specialist to work <br /> about 10-20 hoursp er week- and 2 or 3 volunteer video technicians. <br /> Jim Marr retired and no one has taken over the duties he previously performed for the video control <br /> operation—namely,the administrative functions of scheduling video technicians and keeping the <br /> informed of meeting cancellations and changes;making certain control room equipment was fey <br /> functional;making sure meeting room was set up;laheling tapes; and other related administrativ clerical <br /> functions that arose. This day-to-day operation from Town Hall is desperately needed. <br /> 0 Civic functions should be clone by volunteers through Bob Fensternmaker at Comcast Studio. <br /> government town Selectmen and Committee meetings broadcast through our Town control room. <br /> Difficulty: In addition to the technical expertise required,most of the ork is evening work. <br /> Following the discussion, formal motions were made: <br /> Motion: Janes Chisholm made the motion that we do whatever is necessary to get more video tech otans to <br /> tape meetings; Lolita McCray seconded this motion; and It was unanimously passed. <br /> Motion: Names Chisholm made the motion that the duties formerly performed by Town Han staff regarding <br /> video scheduling and other related duties he reinstated and formalized this motion was seconded by Lolita <br /> McCray* and was unanimously passed. <br /> Motion: James Chisholm made the motion that this MCAT Board propose to the Board of Selectmen to <br /> place an ad in several publications searching for people who would he interested Wn assisting with the video <br /> production and broadcasting of Town government function,i.e. Selectmen and Committee meetings, etc. <br /> Applicants can submit a letter of interest to the Selectmen's Office to be directed to MCAT. This motion was <br /> seconded by Jinn Moroney; and all voted in favor of the motion except Maxine Wolfset,who abstai*ed. <br /> James Chishohn addressed the Conunittee stating that tits Special Meeting has resulted in two productive steps— <br /> namely: <br /> 1. Andrew Ehason is to approach Town Manager,Joyce Mason,to get the much-needed administrative help <br /> from Town Mall; and <br /> . If Selectmen approve,we'll get video broadcasting technicians. <br /> Andrew Eliason advised that he will contact Joyce Mason to inform her that Bill Shea will continue if Selectmen <br /> approve advertisement to go in paper and administrative functions reinstated by staff.
