Suggested Copy for Cable Committee Web Fuge January 8, 2006
The attached document carne to ane by email through the kindness of committee member James Chisholm. I have numbered the
pages and paragraphs for easy identification. No other changes have been rade. The following is a review of the captioned
document with some suggested adjustments.
Paragraphs nur' ber 1 through 6 relate the history of The Cable Committee from its inception up to January 1, 2001. While
paragraphs 7 through 10 list plans for continued or planned activities, such as overseeing the disbursements of funds from the
Cable company. These funds were negotiated for the purpose of updating and maintaining equipment, acquidng equipment for the
i pr \ement of communications *thin the community as well as staffing for videoing town
government events. Some other goals were: To ad se the Board of Selectmen on new technology, to continue to rev4 w
customer complaints, and to review the Cable company's compliance iter cable service contract.
Suggestions : Paragraphs and 10may be some what ambitious considedng current MCAT resources and perhaps should be
deleted.
Name Charge and A New"Charge"
Paragraphs 11), 11 A and 12 suggested changes.
Paragraph 1 reflects the current bylaws of the town. Ho ve er, a charge has been voted by the town meeting which will reduce
the total number of members to five. This change is now under renew by the Massachusetts Attorney General.
Suggestion.Dace this charge is approved paragraph 1 should read x"The Selectmen shall appoint a Mashpee cable and
Advanced Technology AcMory Board consisting of five members". Please see attachment A included.
Paragraphs 1 ,1 119), 20), and 21 ha\a no suggested charges
Paragraphs 16),17)and 18 mise so many questions that I must rake the following motion: For the purpose aff consideration and
without prejudice, I moa that paragraphs 16), , and 1 be removed from the"Charge." If this motion has a second then the
issues contained in the cited paragraphs will be open for discussion and the voice of the whole committee will be heard.
Respectfully submitted, .lames F.
