Mason"<jmason@ci.mashpee.ma.us> <br /> Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 12:36 PM <br /> Subject: Emergency Meeting Requested <br /> Hi Mashpee Cable and Advanced Technology Board Members, <br /> Hope your winter is going well. <br /> need to ask if you could gather together an emergency meeting for me. <br /> I have been buying time with our MUNIS Server, which was installed April 2002, and I am running out of time. <br /> It has rebooted itself and kicked ALL users off 3 times in the past 311 weeks, once causing data corruption. <br /> This took MONIS support just short of 8 hours to fix, plus the loss of productivity for ALL town MUMS users. <br /> 1 already spent$750 installing larger hard drives in April, 2006 because it ran out of space. <br /> So, although I was hoping to buy time, I am forced to deal with this. <br /> I wanted to migrate to a Windows Server/SQL Server environment anyway, so it needs to occur sooner rather <br /> than later. <br /> I am requesting funding in the ballpark of 25K. The breakdown is as follows: <br /> New DELL PowerEdge Server $12,000 <br /> 25 Licenses of SQL Server $3200 <br /> MUNIS Migration Cost $6000 <br /> Misc Wireless Network additions, $3000 <br /> Comcast Cable Reconfig, etc <br /> TOTAL REQUESTED $24,200 <br /> Please let me know if and when you can accommodate this. As it is, I must call an outside Compaq repair <br /> company and put money into this server <br /> Just to stabilize it until MONIS can convert to a Windows environment. MUNIS is booked out 10-12 weeks! <br /> PS—this is why we try to stay consistent with vendors,hardware and software platforms. IF this was a windows <br /> machine we would port the data to a new <br /> Server, test, and then cut everyone over rather seamlessly. Can't do that from a UNIX machine. It's the only one <br /> of its kind in our network.
