CAT Board et al,
To inform you of the contribution and impact the Mashpee Public Access Studio has on the town of
Mashpee, I have put together this breakdown of the past years usage and training schedule. Several
Mashpee residents have taken advantage of the free service Comcast provides,to inform, teach and
entertain people who are subscribed to a service allowing them to view channel 17. Some of our local
access users have even distributed there original programming to other Cape access studios, as well as
studios beyond Cape Cod.The Mashpee access channel has also allowed area non-profit organizations
to get their message out via the electronic bulletin board.
Original local programming produced at our studio include "Native voices."' Produced,by members of
the wampanoag tribe, Native voices keeps the area informed of tribal activities, elections, youth news
and general tribal news. "Your Health Care: Choice or Chance" produced by Mashpee resident Ellen
Kagan, updates and informs of the current state of health care in Massachusetts. Maxine wolfset has
produced several programs regarding the water issues in Mashpee. Maxine has even won awards for
her efforts here at the studio. These are just a few of the important programs created here at the studio.
The facilities available to Mashpee residents have been used extensively over the last year. Our editing
suite has seen 463 hours of use. Portable equipment has been checked out over 30 times, and the
studio clocked in 69 hours of usage. Training classes exceeded 160 hours in the studio and editing suite,
as access users learned to use the new Final Cut editing computer, as well as sorra of the new additions
to the control room purchased last year. We are also open to other Cape producers not from Mashpee.
Scores of slows sponsored by Mashpee residents have been aired on our chane l including: Barnstable
County Commissioner, Assembly of Delegates,Jazzercise Workout,The Jeff Perry Report and Inside Talk.
I hope you will tie into consideration our request for additional up to date equipment, as it will only
help to provide advanced training and better production value.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jeff.. lugh
Mashpee Access Supervisor
