1)The Fire Dept Server is just short of 7 years old. Purchased in Nov 2004. original cost$4524. Bruce and I have replaced 2 hard drives end a PERC controller card. It is time to retire this device, or maybe demote it to a lesser function than a Domain Controller and FirePoint Application Server. I request$75QO for another VMWare Virtual server that wiII run-as a DC, and a Fir Point Bearer, and an Amb uPro server, as well as virtuali a several Town Hall Bearer instances for redundancy and shortened recovery time in case of failure. 4 , 2) The Police Dept Server is only 4 years old, purchased Sept 2007, original cost$5988, but I would like to reuse it for a lesser function, probably a Domain and Application Server for DPW,and purchase another VMWare Virtual Server that will run as a OC, and an IMC Server, as well as virtuali a several Town Hall Server instances, and Fire server instances. This will give us a reduction of overall servers that we used to buy for a one to one relationship of server to server bases application and the process now is to spend more on the initial server but consolidate 4-6 servers worth of applications down to one server. we will essentially run ALL town functions on 3 VMware servers and increase overall redunan y and improve application access and disaster re overy'be ause ALL B servers are physically sized large enough,with memory and hard -drive space to effectively inherit the workload of the other server in case of failure. This request would be for another$7500 for this Police Server. 3)The VMllare software to ruin on these 2 new servers cost$410 each, so another o is requested. 4) We currently have a balance of$1468 f IVI AT funded technical support with M Plus. They worked with us on the akbot problem,they built the exchange server and did the migration, they did the M Afee Anti-Spann solution,they did the Cisco ASA firewallonfigs. we rely heavily on their expert knowledge and we grant to continue with several issues that I will detail at the end of this email. I would life to request$2500 be added to the existing balance to continue to move forward with network security needs. S) Lastly,we still are using Syrnante Anti-Virus for our virus protection with a much lower sense of security. This is no small task to migrate off of one product and migrate to another. we have evaluated several other solutions and feel that the only one who really elirninated Qakbot was M1 rosoft's Forefront Endpoint Protection product. I have not received-offiial pricing from Microsoft, but I would guess around $5k for our size environment. This product runs on Microsoft's Systems Management Server Platform. Yet another cost to purchase and a more complicated product to learn. I would request training from Microsoft and the implementation and configuration of both SMS and Forefront Endpoint Protection within our environment. I think SIDS would cost around$1000 and the installation and configuration around $2000-$3000. So, the request would be Forefront at$5000, SMS at$1000, Installation/Configuration at$ 000,Training at$4000. 6) Finally, I would like to purchase an additional card for our Cisco ASA 5510 Router for IPS, (Intrusion Protection System)to proactively monitor attempts to intrude our network. we may have averted the Qakbot virus if we were monitoring the Internet Access into our network with tools such as IPS. This card cost$1500 and-we would use MPlus to configure and install. Request$1500 for Cisco IPS card. Total MCAT request is$32,820. If all of this could be consolidated'under Network Security than the cost is over 25K and could go to the next CIP request. Also,these server requests were part of the last CIP request from I.T. we do not currently need more funding for PC's. thanks, David
