Comment "clevision continued <br /> Debra o rs <br /> Debra Rogers presented a video of what Falmouth Community Television FCTV did last year. She has been at <br /> Falmouth for 15 years; she explained services offered-by there and said they are an independent,nonprofit <br /> organization and exist by virtue of the license between Town of Falmouth and Comcast. They are not fuller funded <br /> by the Cable company-they get about %from Cable company(directly from Cable company to them)and they <br /> get 0%through fundraising. They oversee educational access—they get that money directly from Cable company. <br /> Town does not oversee funding...annual audit done. Highlights of her presentation included the following: <br /> FCTV assumes responsibility for all town/committee meetings;and covers.events live. <br /> 0 They'have a studio and they own 415 units 6f a condo building...2 units owned outright. <br /> 0 They do a lot offundraising;raised$25,000 just for 2 town meetings; .indr i in is Debra's responsibility, <br /> rely on subscribers and supporters in same manner that PBS does. Town meetings are their biggest <br /> fundraiser. <br /> 0 Debra said Mashpee can build something on their own or another opportunity is to go in with existing <br /> nonprofit—Sandwich and Falmouth right next to you. <br /> . me hers on F TV board; none are staff'. <br /> • Staff consists of 5 ful l time and 2 part time. <br /> • 12 'Individuals were involved in the movie making boot camp-ages ran from 12 to 60. <br /> 0 FdImouthbas approximately 17,000 Comcast stibscribers. <br /> 0 Debra works with the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce. <br /> 0 Debra said they met with Cornet et al. about having a regional channel. <br /> D6bra said 5 mid-Cape townshaveconsolidated and about. lower-Cape towns consolidated and only just <br /> hired their own executive director. <br /> Paula Johnson <br /> Paula Johnson said they are a much smaller operation; Sandwich has about 7,000 subscribers...about the same <br /> number of subscribers a Mas p e; and she has only been doing Sandwich Community Television for 2 years. <br /> They run PEG-from the High School studio...and are doing it this summer. <br /> Pula Johnson said they bought a bay at the Industrial Park site and have studio at the High School. <br /> Andrew Eliason stated he would,like to see the'Sandwichfacility. <br /> • They have 2 full-tine staff and just added l more person. <br /> • They are responsible for all Town meetings. <br /> • "one person can go to meeting withlaptop and do the coverage. <br /> Community involvement includes Chamber of Commerce, School,and dealing with people on all aspects. <br /> 0 They do outreach-constant-e-mailing and open houses. <br /> 0 Paula stressed importance of streaming and communicating through FacebooJk,-Internet, etc. Pa la said as <br /> soon as program made,put immediately on YouTube...an additional vehicle to get program out to the <br /> pudic. <br /> 0 Ting technology-is ifi n journalism. - <br /> Live election coverage. They want to be able to skype into their news. <br /> They started buying technology to go to next level...Paula said if you don't teach that technology then <br /> people won't'be corning. <br /> Debra Rogers made a comment that she noted the machine in the Town-control room here requires someone to be <br /> at the machine to add input;whereas they can add to their equipment remotely. Bruce-St llo commented that 1T i <br /> working on building PC that streams to the video'and this is perfect timing for us to be doing that. <br /> Debra Rogers and aula Johnson exited the meeting with MCAT Board thanking there for coming and providing <br /> this helpful information. <br />
