w
Capital Improvement Program
Comments and Justification Attachment
}
Project : 01
Project Title: Sub Station Construction
Priority: Urgent
Justification: It is a goal of this department to reach all requests for a
medical assistance in 4 minutes. For insurance under-writing purposes,
the Insurance Service office (ISO) considers any structures located
farther than five miles from a fire station to be in a non-protected area.
Comments: Currently the portions of Mashpee located South of the
ockway Bay boat landing and the portions located north of Cotuit Road
and Hemlock (not including the areas adjacent to and including Pimlico
Pond load) are out of a 4-minute response zone. Portions of the far
northern Parts of town are currently addressed with a response
agreement with Sandwich.
ISO has designated portions of far Southern Mashee as unprotected
(greater that five miles'from any fire station).
During the debate regarding the Fire Headquarters renovation (completed
three gears ago), direction was given by the Board of Selectman to the
Fire Station Building Committee to downsize the headquarters program
clue to the pressing need for a substation. The Fire Station Building
Committee has identified Town owned land on Red Brook Road for this
station.
r
{
a
,.V
Former Sta. 3 Marstons.
