{ t Mashpee Planning and Construction Conittee Mirnutes of Meeting Held Mond y,July 10,2006 Mashee Town ball Meeting Room Comm e Members Present: Eugene Smargon,Irving Goldberg, Kevin Sh cl ett, Janice Mills, Joe Krait, and Tricia Parolski(EOfficio Member). Absent: Steve Cook, Invited Participants* Catherine Laurent, DPW Brad Tripp, Facilities Supervisor Mashpu Public Schools Eugene Smar ort, Chainnan, called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Approval of Minutes Iry Goldberg noted that it was confusing having layout of only second floor bathrooms attached to June 6, � 2006 minutes and he provided sketch of first floor bathrooms to be attached to the June 6 minutes so that it would clearly show that 4 unisex bathrooms were approved to be constructed at Coombs School. Motion: Iry Goldberg motioned to accept the minutes of June 6,2006 as amended; Kevin Shackett seconded this motion; and the notion passed,with Eugene Smargon and Joe Brait absta i from the vote. Old Business Bathrooms at Coombs School...Gene Smargon reported that he and Iry Goldberg went to visit the school to see where the bathrooms were going and made a few suggestions,which Brad incorporated. Brad Tripp distributed a copy of his memo to each member of the Cottee and the discussion included the following 0 All bathrooms are to be unisex and are for staff only. Iry asked how do you keep students out of the bathrooms? Brand responded they are labeled staff only and staff monitors that, • Brad explained location and size of the 4 unisex bathrooms. He explained they chose area where bathrooms will go because area not used that much plus they pan tie into septic without tremendous amount of plumbing work. 0 Most of the work will be done by school maintenance; other work like plumbing, electrical, etc. will be done by contracted outside professional services. Brad is very confident they will come in under the$40,000 budgeted for 4 bathrooms because fixtares have been cut down since these are not student bathrooms. He said they tried to streand a as much as possible. • Brad stated they would rent equipment they don't have. Joe Krait said the Sheriff's office could � let them use heir compressor if needed. • .brad said one suggestion had been to use louver doors, but because of privacy they felt doors should be solid and they'll put in vent exhaust. • Time schedule: will start cutting into the floor tomorrow after this muting. Brad said Joyce i holding,the permits pending approval of the project by this Cottee. Motion* Iry Goldberg motioned we accept the plan for the 4 unisex bathrooms at the Coombs School;Joe Brait seconded the motion; and it was un a nously approved. Iry com iented that since the timeframe is tight Joyce should be advised right away this project has been approved and the permits can be released. Catherine Laurent volunteered to call Joyce tomorrow to let her know it has been approved.
