Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee Minutes of Meeting Held Tuesday,October,3,2006 Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room Committee Members Present:Eugene Smargon,Kevin Shackett,Janice Mills,and Sheldon Ebert. Absent: ruing Goldberg,Joe Bract, Steve Cook,and Tricia Parolski Ex Officlo Member . Invited Participant; Catherine Laurent DPW Gene Smargon,Chairman,called the meeting to order,at 7:02 p.m- Approval .m_ppr al of Minutes Janice Mills motioned to accept the minutes of September 5,,2006;Kevin Shackett seconded this motion;and the notion passu,with Gene Smargon abstaining. Old Business 1 ew iib ...Shelly Gilbert updated the Committee: As of October l the Library Building nitre will no longer exist. No cage in statin of the State get. Shelly feels they will eventually approve the gent. 40 are on the list and we are number 4. + with Town only giving$3.5 Billion,we will fall short. • 12 applications filed with foundations to be completed this month. Director of the Board of Library Trustees will want to meet with this Committee. Janice Mills commented that we need to got Library building hint. Catherine Laurent informed the Conunitt e that she had suggested to Joyce that maybe we can sit down with the Mate and see what we can get. Shelly responded that they were told there is no flexibility—we don't get the grant if we don't build the 22,000 square foot library. Janice stated that one of the problems,though.,is that the build-out of the Town did not materialize. Following discussion,the Committee reached a consensus that this Committee should fit meet with Joyce Mason to get input from her and thea invite the Board of Library Trustees to come to a meeting after the meeting with Joyce. Catherine will check with Joyce to see whether or not Joyce would be available to attend Planning and Constriction Cottee Fe ting at 7 p.m. onNonday,November ember 6,2006. Bathrooms a_Cp9mbs School...Janice Mills reported that the bathrooms are stiff not complete because the school maintenance staff is doing the work. However,they are going to get the work done way under budget. The cost will b $20,000,rather than the$40,000 estimated. This week they're doing tiles and doors. Quashnet School...Janice said the front door at this school doesn't dose at the bottom. Cost to replace the double doors is about$8,000 so Brad putting this amount in the Zoog budget. Gene asked whether or not they could merely replace the one defective door. Janice will ask Brad and get back to this Committee with that input. i Fire Substation • Catherine said she was told the hope is that the AFP will be out this week for the Project Manager. The posting has to be a minimum of 2 weeks. • Also,they will be setting up a Selection Committee and 2 or 3 members of this Planning and Construction Committee would be part of the Selection Cottee. • Gene stated he heard some people were having a problem with the location of the proposed Substation. Catherine said she sent a letter out to those who had requested the material showing the preliminary location with the caveat that this may not be the site. Catherine said right now why the substation is sited it's not near any abutters.
