Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Tuesday,February 6,2007 <br /> Mnshpee Town Hall Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members resew: Eugene Smargon., Irving Goldberg, Kevin Shackett, Steve <br /> Cook, Sheldon Gilbert, and T eia Parolski Ex Officio Member). <br /> Absent: Joe Brait, and Janice Wills. <br /> Also Present: Catherine Laurent,DPW <br /> Joyce Mason, 'down Manager(arrived 7:12 .m. <br /> Helene l e oe, Library Director <br /> Audience:- Brian Kehrl–Ma hpee Enterprise <br /> Bode Baffett–Former vice Chairman of Library Building Committee <br /> Nancy Soderberg–Library'trustee <br /> David Burton--Chairman,Board of Library Trustees <br /> Jane Dolan <br /> Gene Smargon, Chairman, called the Meeting to order at 7 p.m. i <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Erving Goldberg motioned to accept the n nutes of January 23, 2007 as presented; Sheldon <br /> Gilbert seconded this motion; and the motion was approved, with ' cia Parolski abstaining. <br /> Old Business <br /> Fire Substation...Joyce Mason reported that a draft copy of the contract with Pomeroy <br /> Associates is at"born Counsel and that the RFP for design services has been started. Joyce said <br /> this Committee takes from design right through construction. <br /> x <br /> New Library Build...Chairman Smargon addressed the Committee saying he would like to go <br /> around the table and ask each Committee member to give opinion and ideas on which way to go <br /> in making recommendation to the Board of Selectmen. Catherine Laurent prepared and <br /> distributed to each Committee member a list of the options outlined by Stewart Roberts, as well <br /> as a list of two other options—namely,Renovation/New Construction drafted by Steve Cook and <br /> Long-Term Lease option proposal where town would out with an RFP to negotiate a -year <br /> lease with outside developer. Copies of these lists are attached to the printed set of these <br /> minutes. <br /> The result of polling each Cottee member as well as Joyce, Catherine and Helene, was Haat <br /> all except Gene felt the 20,880 Sly building makes the most sense as long as there is a back-up <br /> plan in the event the state grant is not forthcoming in tm <br /> he expected July/August timeframe. This <br /> will mean going to the Board of Selectmen with the recommendation noting that it is contingent <br /> upon the grant and the voters approving additional $2-Million bond.authorization. �Request <br /> 4 <br />
