Public Library
o Current Progress — A Quality Control ("QU) Review of the project bid documents was completed
by the Team during the month of August. The QC review went well and all comments/questions were
addressed. JSR to submit final status report to PA of all QC comments. Documents were prepared for
biding period to start on August 22", but several opportunities came up at the State level. These were
discussed at the 8120/08 committee meeting and it was decided to delay the bidding 2 weeks to take
advantage of the opportunities. They were;
. The issuance of the 7`h Edition of the State Building Code. The new code allowed us the
capture an additional 340 sq ft within the existing building footprint by eliminating 1
emergency stair. There will be some additional design costs to modify the plans and specs, but
the cost savings of eliminating a stair will more than offset the change.
b. The possibility that the State may be issuing grant monies for buildings to become LEER
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. As the project design currently
incorporated many LEER dualities, the team agreed to modify the project documents to
capture the certification. The project is currently looking for LEER points in the crud 35 which
will capture a LEED Silver Certification. The lowest certification is a LEER Certified
classification at 26 to 32 points. The cost for re-design, bidding delay, certification and
requirements for materials, waste disposal contractor requirements are estimated to be in the
range of$120,000.00. The projected state grant funds for LEEK Certification are projected to
be approximately $150,000.00.
o Project Schedule — The revised project schedule is as follows; Bid Start 9/5, Filed Subs 1011 noon,
GC's 10115 2:oopm. Notice to Proceed will occur on November ember , 2008 and Substantial Completion
by January 8, 2010.
o Project Budget—The additional 15% State Grant monies from 11BLC has been awarded. The project
budget has been revised to reflect this and the furnishings line item has been added back into the
budget. The project budget at this time with the items above incorporate represents a balanced budget
with a 7.5% Contingency.
0 open issues —Cape Light Compact has completed their review and PA will get an estimate of the
rebate amount and any comments.
o Project Invoices—Presentation
0 open Discussion
Pomroy Associates—Project Update-Library—8/4/08 Meeting Agenda Page 1 of 1
