Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee Min tes of Meeting Held Tuesday, October 28,2008 Meeting Room I Committee Memhers Present: Steve Cook, Irving Goldberg, Janice Mills, Kevin Shackett, Eugene Smargon, Sheldon Gilbert, and Tricia Parolski (Ex Officio Member). Absent: Joe Brait, Also Present: Catherine Laurent, DPW Rick Pomroy, Pomroy Associates Helene I eFoe, Library Director Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Approval of Minutes Janice fulls motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of October 2, 2008; Irving Goldberg seconded the motion; and the motion was approved, with Tricia Parolski abstaining. Library Project Rick Pomroy provided the Co mitt e with a project update on the Library, which is attached to the printed set of these minutes. Rick Pomroy discussed.in detail the bid results, as well as the tabulation of GC bid results, reference checks, and next steps...all detailed in the documents attached to the printed set of these nninutes. Rick then recommended t6 the Committee to award the Library Project to Buffiree Building Company, Inc. Rick pointed out that the goal is to get the outfit under contract; get them started quickly; and the second 30%payment by Massachusetts Board ofLibrary Commissioners' (MBLQ Will occur after the contract is signed and building permit issued. Motion: Irving Goldberg motioned that the Committee recommend to`the Board of Selectmen to accept Buffiree Building Company,Inc. as the Library Project General Contractor Janice bills seconded this motion; and it was unanimously approved. Rick Pomroyand Steve Cook will attend the November 3rd Board of Selectmen meeting to g present this recommendation. In connection with the HVAC bid protest, Gene Smargon asked whether anyone called the State License Board to find out whether owner licenses are necessary? Rick said he spent half a cry on the phone with the Mate Licensing Board and nobody could answer the question. He kept being transferred and they kept sending him back to the Clerk's Office. Since this is a matter between ITS and Superior, Rick not pursuing further. Material Testing Bids...RFP done and bias received October 22"d. The bids are outlined in October 27 memo attached to the printed set of these minutes, wherein Rick Pomroy and Stewart Roberts recommend the Committee accept low bidder UTS. Motion: Devin Brackett motioned to accept the bid from UTS in the amount o $14,596.00-P Irving Goldberg seconded this motion; and it was unanimously passed.
