Ntashpee Planning and Construction Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting Held Tuesday,April 2 ,2011 <br /> Town Hall,Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members Present. Steve Cook,Irving Goldberg,Eugene Smargon,and D.J.Ellis. <br /> Absent: Janice Mills,and Joe Krait. <br /> Also 'ren : Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> Chairman Steve Cook called the meeting to order at 6:35 p. , <br /> l?yroval of- Minutes <br /> Irving Goldberg motioned to approve the minutes of the Meeting offebruary 10, 2011 as presented; <br /> Eugene Smargon seconded the notion. <br /> Roll-Cali vote was taken and all voted "yes'. The motion was passed with a unanimous vote. <br /> Old Business <br /> Catherine Laurent updated the Planning and Construction Committee PQ on the Solar Projects on <br /> Town Buildings and on Green Communities Projects(14VAC). A copy of the Construction Protocol Plan <br /> with Borrego Solar Projects dated February 11, 2011 provided-by Catherine is attached to the printed set <br /> of these minutes. <br /> Solar„Projects <br /> Catherine explained that this is part of the Power Purchase Agreement. Mashpee agreed to buy electricity <br /> for 10 years arra after 10 years we'll own the system. laspee will pay 15 cents for each Kw dour; right <br /> now 1 lashpee pays 17 cents per KW hour so it will bc a little hit of a savings but the savings will be <br /> increased when we own the system in 10 gears. The system will function for up to 2 5 years. The system <br /> will be in place by September and up and producing by enol of October. <br /> Regarding the system at the Library Building, Catherine said since it"s been a year since it was installed <br /> she will check to see the Library output system production. <br /> Green Communities <br /> Catherine reported that the 100,000 grant will be used for the below-listed projects. Catherine said the <br /> grant money is in hand so they are looking to start work in May and be completed by September: <br /> 1. Replace the boiler at the Police Station; <br /> . Replace one of the air handler units at.IAC Coombs School;and <br /> Upgrade energy management system at Town Hall by replacing thermostats. <br /> 4. If possible(that is, if grant money not all used by items 1- then an additional air handler unit in <br /> the library of IAC Coombs School will be replaced. <br /> J Ellis raised a question regarding minority requirements. Catherine responded that the"down <br /> encourages minority-owned businesses to participate but we are not required to give preferences. <br />
