Mashpee Planning and Construction Committee Minutes of Meeting.Held Wednesday,June 20,2012 Town Hall Meeting Room Committee Members Present: Steve Cook,Irving Goldberg,-and Joe Brait. Absent: Eugene Smargon. Also Present: Catherine Laurent,DPW Chairman Steve-Cook called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Approval of Minutes .doe Brait motioned to accept the minutes of the Meeting of May 22,2012 as written; Irving Goldberg seconded the motion. Vote: 3 Yes. Steve Cook,yes. Irving Goldberg,yes. Jae Breit,yes. Old Business Catherine Laurent provided update on the archives project sabring that we only got a single bid in the amount of$234,453 and with additional alternates vire added we would be a little over budget but we are still waiting to Bear from National Grid and Cape dight Comp' act on what incentives and rebates they may pay for the efficiency improvements we would be doing. Alternate 45 for re-building the exterior stair for the back of the building and the roof over the basement would have to be done and we are looking for DPW or Sherlff s Department to do which would eliminate the$19,600 expense but there would be cost for materials. Catherine said the engineer is going to run the numbers for the HVAC electric system. With the HVAC electric system,difference is lower installation cost but higher running cost. However, smee the building is closed for most of the heating season the running cost might not be significant at all when compared to the higher installation cost of another system. The Committee discussed in-depth whether or not to proceed with renovations-in view of the fact that only one bid was received plus costs involved as opposed to re-building a Simple building with simple HVAC system, sprinkler system, and electric baseboard. Steve Cook estimated to re-build is approximately$250 per square foot for a very simple buiRding. 4 Catherine said we have 2 months to make the deei ion whether to accept or decline the bid. The feeling of the Committee members was in that time the Committee could work on getting some rough numbers to discuss at next PCC meeting...keeping in mind that with a new building approach there would b demolition costs-,engineer/architect co is;bid process;etc. Consensus of the Committee was to do the research anflook at other options. Motion; Irving Goldberg motioned to table the archives project to research other options; Joe gait seconded this notion. Vote: 3 Yes. Steve Cook,yes. Irving Goldberg,yes. Joe Brait,yes.
