Recycling Committee <br /> Wednesday,ednesd , April 21, 2004 <br /> Minutes <br /> Members Present: Chuck Gasior; Nikki Descoteaux <br /> Others- Catherine Laurent, DPW <br /> A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 4.00 p.m.. <br /> A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes from the meetings ofMarch <br /> 171) 200 4. The motion was approved nnar�mousl . <br /> DISCUSSION OF PAYT <br /> Chuck attended a PAYT workshop at the DEP Southeast Regional office in Lakeville. <br /> He suggested that the Connr ittee invite Edith l eMello from DEP to the Committee <br /> meeting in June. <br /> ""MASHPEE FOOTS" PROGRAM ON RECYCLING <br /> The Conunittee is confirmed to be on the 1/ hour program on 1 I Ph. Chuck will ask <br /> Janice Watford for more information on the program format and what her goal for the <br /> program is. He will also ask her about the use of visual aids. <br /> The Committee discussed what their goal for the program was. The primary goals are t <br /> inform residents about what recycling opportunities are available and to intone there <br /> about the financial and environmental benefits of recycling. <br /> The Conur ttee will meet on May 5th to prepare for the program. <br /> COLUMN IN MASHPEE ENTERPRISE <br /> The Committee discussed possible topics for a periodic column in the Mashpee <br /> Enterprise. Some ideas included PAYT 107 of the 351 Massachusetts municipalities <br /> have PAYT programs); comparison of Mashpee recycling to other Cape torn (materials, <br /> quantities, etc.); HE? Collections (upcorning dates, what's accepted); composting; and <br /> getting children involved in recycling. <br /> OTHER <br /> y <br /> The Town received three bids in response to the RFB for operation ofthe Transfer <br /> Station. The low bidder was WeCare Transportation. 'waste Managern.ent was second. <br /> The current contractor was third. The DPW is evaluating WeCare's bid. The Board o <br /> Selectmen will award the contract on May 10th. Nikki asked why the other five <br /> contractors who requested bid packages did not subrru't bids. <br />
