A performer from westem Massachusetts has a recycling program. Nikki
suggested contacting Cape Cod Community College, MEC, and the Mass. Environmental
Educators for a list of other performers or speakers. Provin eto n also had a program
several years ago-
BOTTLE
goBOTTLE REDEMPTION
The Town Manager supported formalizing the bottle redemption ption collection. Catherine
will develop an application and guidelines for eligibility. She will also contact the local
redemption center to discuss collection/separationrequi
r ment . Chuck suggested that
the Boy Scouts be contacted to advise them that the Town is considering a new process.
SOUTHPORT RECYCLING
resident contacted Catherine to inquire about establishing a recycling program in
Southport. Currently, only curbside trash collection is offered. She is unable to recycle
at the Transfer Station for health reasons. Catherine contacted Waste Management,
Southport's trash hauler. They do not offer recycling in Mashpee. Catherine advised the
Board of Health of this as itis a violation of their hauling permit. The options for
recycling at this time would therefore be to hire another hauler to.collect recyclables
either curbside or from a central location in Southport. The Town could also consider
purchasing a recycling trailer which could be used at various locations and for special
events. Chuck will contact the interested resident. Catherine' will explore the options.
