Recycling Committ Monday,July 19, 2010 Minutes Members Present: Sheldon Gilbert, June Levy, Chuck Gasior Others: limon Baler Jon Leavitt Mile Richardson, Mashpee Selectmen Catherine Laurent, DPW quorum being present, the meeting was called to order at 3:05 p.m.. Discussion of Education Program C. Laurent distributed tee-shirts with the campaign logo on them. She has shirts for the Board of Selectmen also. The shirts were donated by Lance Lambros of Cape Cod Sports Wear in Mashpee. The Committee discussed the program developed. J. Levy went through the power point presentation she created on single stream recycling. The presentation could be displayed on the Town's cable channel, at the library, and in Town Hall. It could also be customized for use before specific community organizations. J. Levy will finalize it for distribution. She will also create a second presentation that shows how the reyclables are sorted. The Committee listed events being held in l lashpee over the next several months where members could be present to promote recycling: weekly Farmers' Market(Saturday mornings), HHP Collection (August 14), Waquoit Bay Watershed Block Party, Artisans' Fair(August 21), La Travola(August 13), M shpee High School Football games, ltoberfest (October , October Town Fleeing (October 1 . The Committee ee discussed greeting Transfer Station users and handing out recycling guide. The guide has been sent to the printer. Once received, members will sign up for a two-hour time slot at various times during the week. S. Gilbert suggested having recycling bin and/or bag to demonstrate the ease of single stream recycling. C. Ga for wrote the first article on recycling. It was published in the l la tepee Enterprise n July 16. An article will be published monthly. The next article may be on Pay As You Throve. C. Laurent will contact the advertising department about publishing the logo, a cartoon or other promotional item on recycling the other three weeks each month. Pricing has been requested for refrigerator magnets with the recycling campaign logo. -C. Laurent will also get a price for a harmer to hang at the Transfer Station and at events. M. Richardson suggested meeting with the Executive Director at the Chamber of Commerce to involve the business community. The Committee discussed several ideas including having businesses display the logo in their windows and placing 4;1911)m recyclable" stickers on tale-out containers. M. Richardson will contact the Chamber.
